We are on international break so it's bound to be rather slow waiting for the Arsenal game. I thought with all this talk of us getting carried with champions league football or dare I say it title challengers! Maybe we should take a step back and consider the all important threat of relegation! Yes how that used to be such a drain on our lives. So get your predictions in for which match we will achieve this? I'm going for the Chelsea game at St Mary's where do the double over them!
If we carry on at the rate of points we are picking up it would be the Chelsea game at St Mary's which would be our 20th league game of the season!
Our next round of fixtures, as well as Christmas time congestion mean it would be a minor miracle to keep the current points rate up in my opinion! That said, I'm in dreamland and want it to just keep going
Yes. I have compiled a realistic view of our next few games. Arsenal 2 V 0 Southampton Chelsea 2 V 1 Southampton Southampton 0 V 1 Aston Villa Southampton 0 V 3 Man City Newcastle 3 V 0Southampton Southampton 0 V 1 Tottenham Cardiff 2 V 1 Southampton Everton 2 V 0 Southampton
It annoys me when people say "how long until we get the magic 40 and are safe?". I am 100% sure we will not go down; even after the Norwich game I knew we wouldn't go down. We should have a magic 50 for a top half place or a magic 60 for a top 6 place.
We will lose 2 more games. They will be against Bayern Munich in the CL final next season & Someone in the following seasons super cup. Well we can all dream.
Please don't do that! Although you're probably giving Newcastle a little too much credit with 3-0 the results you have predicted aren't impossible!
It wasn't aimed at you directly, but I don't like looking at the bottom of the table and think we should look up and not down whilst our form lasts. I want to feel like I support a top 4 team. It's more to do with people like my dad who's looking at our season in the "I'm pretty sure there's three worse teams than us" sense. He's the same man who was shouting at players when we were 3-0 up and going crazy when Hull scored - we weren't going to double our conceded goals total in one match! I think we should look at our season as top 6 challengers until we hit a horrendous run of form. "If you don't move forward, you don't really go anywhere."
It was a joke, I can't take my eyes off the top of the table - those years in L1 & the Championship got me used to looking at the top, whilst last season gave me a scare, I thought at the start of this season that we'll finish mid-table, hopefully knocking on top 6. I think now that we may scrape into that top 6, or if some luck goes our way (as at the weekend) and we strengthen in the window, even 4th or 5th.
It's all about the next month and a bit, if we scrape through this tough spell with some respectable results then anything could happen.
