I've got Healy in there to win the ball and ideally would change Edwards and Martin but i was trying to be realistic.
JWM I know what your saying but just feel we are in for a good season. Like you though, i have been saying that for the past few years but i think PJ will sign qaulity and more importantly get the players playing for him, which i feel hasn't been the case with the last few HOTHEADS we have had in charge!!! Crimson I know what your saying but i do think that its more realistic to say that PJ will be bringing in quite a few players, a mixture of quality/experience and youth!!
Like JWM, I have had hopes lifted and dashed far too many times to become overly expectant of great success. LancsYorks team, and those of others, do show that we have potential but perhaps still lacking in quality in some areas. That said, I am far more optimistics than I have allowed myself to be in previous seasons. The reality is that none of us will know what team we will see on the first day of the season and, more importantly, how well they will gel together. The one thing we have learnt from the Championship in the last couple of seasons is that the 'best teams' or 'relegation candidates' have not proven to be so come the end of the season. As such, predictions regarding team, strength and capability will remain pure guesswork. So, My guess........ we won't be fighting relegation next season. My hope......... we start to watch a team that performs, entertains and can compete with the best of them. My dream ...... a top six finish.
I'm guessing thats why PJ has bid for that '2nd secret striker' which nobody knows who it is (however its widely assumed it was Ched Evans).
Coppinger to me an absolute must 10 assists last season, joint 5th most in the league, in a bad Donny side. Get this lad onboard. It'll be like a quicker version of Currie, who was older when he joined..!
I love this team guessing lark: GK: Loach RB: Edwards LB: Cresswell CB: St Ledge / Pearce CB: Ingimarsson RM: Coppinger LM: Carson CM: Leadbitter CM: Brown CF: Chopra CF: Wickham Subs from: ALB, Delaney, Kennedy, Peters, Healy, Drury, Martin, Ellington, Priskin I think the rest will either leave or be shipped out on loan. The style will be hardworking box to box midfielders with wingers creating most of the chances for the strikers. If we do get Loach I'd expect someone like Maik Taylor or Mike Pollit to also come to act as backup / tutor. I'd very happy witht that situation, especially if we got over £1M for Fulop. Whether it's St Ledger or Pearce depends on PNEs price. We've already shown we won't bow down to clubs ridiculous transfer fees as with Sharp. Personally I'd prefer Pearce but either would be welcome. Cresswell appears to be a done deal judging by noises floating around and Coppinger isn't far off. Michael Brown is a bit of a guess but we need a similarly experienced midfielder. I think Wickham and Carson will play a big part next season, better players around them will bring out the best of them, as long as they stay. So yeah, 6 signings and an exciting season awaits.
Svendust - you have flouted the convention of back to front and right to left. My head cant cope. Please amend to GK, RB, CB, CB, LB, RM, CM, CM, LM, ST, ST...
RM: Coppinger RB: Edwards CB: St Ledge / Pearce CF: Chopra GK: Loach CB: Ingimarsson CF: Wickham LM: Carson CM: Leadbitter LB: Cresswell CM: Brown
Pie in the sky time for me GK: Loach LB: Cresswell CB: St Ledger/Pearce CB: Imgimarsson RB: Adam Smith (linked with him at the end of the season) LM: Carson/Martin CM: Haroun CM: Leadbitter/[Coppinger/Vincelot depending on who we sign] RM: Treacy CF: Wickham/[Maynard if we sell Wickham] (I said pie in the sky didn't I?) CF: Chopra/Ellington/[Evans if we can ship out Scotland or Priskin]
Team next season, from what I can see happening at present. In my eyes this is the likely line up. GK - Fullop appears on his way - A L B not good enough, think Loach may be on his way aboard - could be wrong. So Loach / new keeper for me. LB - Cresswell appears to have substance. CB - Ingamarsson CB - At the mo Delaney. No chance of St Ledger - I'd imagine Pearce off Bournemouth could be a goer.... RB - Edwards. Hardly linked with a RB. With a good holding midfielder infront, he'd be a cracking right back I think. LM - Carson. Rightly so, cracking prospect. RM - Martin - Tracey I doubt will sign. These two to me are good enough to supply. However, if we could land Coppinger I would be delighted ! CM - Leadbitter. Appears likely to stay. CM - Well, this to me is the major headache. Healy appears a likely starter at present. Hyam appears not to be rated, didn't get a chance. A position we badly need to fix. Not sure who will be ocming in. CF - Chopra CF - I think Wickham's on his way. As is Scotland. Ellington could be a handy ish sub - Priskin could go too, however if only the lad would put the ball in the net he'd be worth hanging onto. Got a feeling another striker could be on his way in.... Verdict - good start Jewell, plenty left to do. This side at the moment in my mind would come 14th. We're 4 minimum short, however your doing good work so long may it continue !
Now that Coppinger has pledged his future to Donny we may have to revise the team we would like to see (realistically) Loach Edwards Pearce Ingimarsson Cresswell Carson Haroun Leadbitter Treacey Chopra Wickham Also think we should try to sign Danny Green and Ollie Mann for the future, would still like to sign a creative C midfielder but can't think who would fit the bill, other than the obvious.
Do we know any thing about Faris Haroun he seems to get in alot of your teams but until a few weeks ago i'd never heard of him let alone knew if he was any good???
