There is no perfect solution. We all know that.
So it's a question of finding the fairest and most practical way to resolve this conundrum.
I simply don't believe a club can be promoted for finishing first while a club isn't relegated for finishing last. Those were the rules at the outset and all clubs knew that. However, voiding the season is also quite wrong - you cannot simply act as though no games took place and the implications therein. Voiding, for me, is a total cop out.

Serious question re. PPG - and also because I can't be arsed to do the work myself.

Would any positions be affected if a final points total was calculated by using...

Total points so far + (PPG gained at home X remaining home games) + (PPG gained away X remaining away games).

I'm sure some would advocate distinguishing between top half/bottom half games remaining as well if the figures suited.

Thanks for the PPG table, Stonkin. Very interesting. A few changes - the most notable being West Ham slipping to third bottom. No wonder the odious Karen Brady has been one of the most outspoken supporters for voiding the season. Three down via PPG has just got more appealing...!

Man City may not be allowed to enter due to their ban! Becomes interesting if the current one which they are in with a great chance of reaching the 1/4's gets scrapped though.

The opposite will probably happen in England and we'll get a similar quote to this.

"There might be appeals but our decisions are solid," said Didier Quillot, the chief executive of the French League (LFP).

The only thing that i think will stop the same thing happening in england unfortunatly is the play offs as 3 teams get promoted in england not 2 , they would have to relegate 3 teams also

France normally have a relegation playoff. So 3rd bottom of Ligue 1 would play the winners of the playoffs in Ligue 2 (3rd-5th). So clearly looks that has been scrapped.

exactly i dont expect play offs to happen in championship but there is plenty of scope for FA to promote top 2 in championship with the points per game system and if the premier league finishes the bottom 3 could be relegated this would leave 19 teams in the premiership , which would be better actually for less games next season in premiership which would be better with the coronavirus still been about or they could relegate 2 teams and 2 teams promoted so the premier league will still have 20 teams but i think 19 teams is better with the virus about next season .
