Of course it us but you were whinging after we played 6 games, that being after you were predicting a top 4 finish for us at the end of last season. Its just so difficult to take your comments seriously when you have proved to be so fickle as a fan..
We have lost our last two away games 4-0. Our last 2 home games have been 1-1 draws. We have the worst (joint) goals against record in the league. One look at the goal difference at the bottom of the table justifies fully why those 3 teams are there. Its not all the defences fault in my opinion, but shows what a weak midfield we have that I believe has contributed 1 goal between them this season. We dont have a play maker and a strong playmaking CM is essential if we are to have any hope at all.
Fickle not fickle,i have supported this club for 40 years, having held sts for the last 22 years consecutive, but i don't expect to be treated different. I do believe,i have a right to share my concerns with fellow reds, some agree, some don't that is the beauty of a forum. I hope i put down what i see on the pitch, and what i hear from the board, the manager, fellow reds in a constructive way.
This is nothing but made up speculation on your part and you consistently post rumours and untruths, the post above contradicts itself within 2 sentences, they didn't want to come because we were already struggling? or we wouldn't pay the wages? What is it?? .. as far as I'm concerned and in my opinion you are the most fickle fan I know, money, time and season tickets change nothing! There nothing constructive in your posts just constant negativity with brief spells of ridiculous over optimism in between. And for someone who works in the motor industry I find it amazing you can't spell Bentley?
Let me start by saying that everyone is entitled to their opinion (and let's try to keep things on a constructive basis rather than personal attacks against fellow posters even if they have a different opinion) My view is that getting rid of the manager is something fans often want too soon. Chopping and changing all the time does not help long-term development of any club. We are in the position we are in now because as a club we messed up or player recruitment in the Summer - the blame for that probably lies with several people It's the same manager who saw us win League 1 by a mile last year - personally I still think he's the man to take us forward
Fair point,i do feel sorry for SC,but you have to question his set up,his subs,or lack of them, plus the signings that are not getting a game. Unless someone else is bringing the players in, which i would doubt,he has to take responcibility for those signings coming in.
I read you post, seems very strange that my posts get good viewings on here, and create good debate, and have done for years. Still we may have differing views, but at least we both support Bristol City FC so we have something in common.
Not disagreeing with your point in general shiny but although there was keen competition for Gray, it was only from other championship clubs and he played for Brentford last year, not Real Madrid so I don't think he was bigger than us (then at least). As someone said on tonight's phone in, he did us the courtesy of travelling to talk with us and not about his holidays so had we made an interesting enough offer, at that stage, he may have come to us (this is probably where thee agent policy scuppered us).
What I find frustrating is you like anybodys post who seems anti SC but ignore anybody who says otherwise. On Wizes thread Tom puts up a link where City fans sang "there's only one Steve Cotterill" at the end of today's game, but I bet you ignored that one.
He did have the decency to see us,SL said in his interview was he felt that he had a better chance of promotion with Burnley and i think they did offer a better package. With Gayle we could afford him and his wages, but he did not want to drop into the championship. However that seems a porky, as it looks like he will be going to Derby, ahh but there at the other end of the table.
ROD look through my posts again, today for example i have criticise SC on certain things, but i have also said good things about him as well. I do have concerns regards him saving us though, unless serious money and quality arrive in jan 2016.
I like SC. Lots of interesting debate here (a good thing). Unfortunately we have to stare at the cold hard facts - 4 wins out of 24 is pathetic. Losing 11 is bad but not necessarily relegation form. It's all the draws that are killing us. The inability to score goals and the inability to keep a tight defence for the full 90 plus minutes. I like SC. I like we he did for us last year. I think he could save us if given the necessary backing but the big problem now is that we are a potentially terrible choice for any decent signings other than loans. Even if Lansdown backs SC, we may be too late in the death throes to change things now. I like SC. But I like Bristol City more and if SC has to go to save my club from another relegation disaster, so be it.
I have to question his substitutions which are always too late and ineffective. I think that we have to work with what we got and change something as it obviously isn't working for us. In the summer we need to build a more rounded squad and have the ability to change things about and rotate players.
A lot of talk about team selection and subs used or not used. Its simple really........what we see is the best SC has to hand. He and his guys see them week in, week out in training and will pick the best, both ability and fitness wise. Sad fact is our very best happens to be the championship's worse. Unless we get at least 3 or 4 decent players on board in January, we will be going down as canon fodder. For me, I would love to see him turn this mess around but if he can't, then its a case of bye bye Steve....then the whole bloody saga repeats itself.
At least the bookies are not putting us in the bottom four to relegated, we are fifth favourite to go down https://www.betvictor.mobi/sports/3/meetings?btagid=#/sports/3/meetings/107099/events/613470100 And if your convinced we will go down whack a tenner on it to get £170 back
I'm not a fan of changing the manager every 5 minutes, but equally we can't retain our championship status if we don't change something. I posted in my 'Bah Humbug' thread that I have 2 main problems with SC: (1) He plays the same 3-5-2 formation week in week out, which means that we are too predictable and (2) he doesnt use his available subs (mainly Cox). Playing the same formation and players is all very well when winning - if it ain't broke don't fix it - but it IS broke (or degraded at the least) and we are still not fixing it. Cotts isn't the main reason for our struggle - I think we all agree that it was our dismal performance in the summer transfer window. However, he doesn't help matters by sticking to a losing formula. We may be a L1 team in a Championship league, but we aren't the only ones. We ARE stronger than our current position suggests, but we approach teams like Burnley away the same as we might approach Charlton at home - in fact we approach ALL games the same way. I've said earlier that its not the 3-5-2 formation that I dislike - it's our inability to adapt and change. Yes, we are restricted in options, but we do have SOME options but are failing to utilise them. I would be sad to see Cotts go, but something needs to change very soon, or we WILL be back in L1 and find ourselves back at square 1 - and there is no guarantee we will bounce straight back up - look at Coventry and Sheffield United. IF we stick with Cotts - and give him the players he wants in January - then he will have no excuse if we fail to pull ourselves clear.
Running a football club is a business and BCFC are going through a transformational stage. They have tried the cheque book route and must be grateful that SL wrote them. We are now in a different world and financial viability is the watch word. The game is however a results based industry and not everybody can win. Therefore if we don't do well there is always the "who do we blame" brigade calling for someone's head and inevitably in the stampede the manager takes the blame. If you don't like what the club is dishing up then vote with your feet rather than trying to influence something over which you have no influence. Managers manage and players play. In my opinion it is the players who are not performing. Having said that all paying supporters should have the right to put forward their views without the fear of ridicule.
well said Handy Andy that is what a football forum is for.chat, banter,it would be very strange if we all followed the same route
When it's been the same pretty much since the last (most successful) season in 50 odd years has finished it becomes so very boring... Is calling supportive fans 'happy clappers' ridicule? Is it only paying fans get an opinion? (that rules out Mike then!) If you like chat and banter so much you should grow a thicker skin when people (eventually) pull you out on your opinions, thats the thing about opinions someone else will always disagree with them..
