I think we could be in for a real exciting summer, new coaching team, players leaving giving us the potential to shop for a different level of players. Not used to having nothing at stake this time of the season, I am going to enjoy the last 4 matches and look forward to the summer.
i would like to see hemir getting more time, he shows plenty of signs that he can win and hold the ball as well as bringing others into the game with his passing, obviously the lack of goals will weigh heavy on him but only one way to put that right.
The biggest critique imo is that he doesn't want to chase, or isn't as effective at cutting off passing lanes just yet, so looks like a headless chicken at times. He just needs to keep chasing, even if he feels like he looks daft. Something will fall for him if he keeps chasing.
After we "over achieved" last season, they way this season panned out (mid table) is where I thought and wanted us to be this time last year, steady the ship so to speak. Huge amounts of work to be done in the Summer.
Does anyone else also think that we have had this season what the management expected last season so they could introduce young players for the following season . A lot of people have said we “over achieved” last season and I think that didn’t help with the squad improvement . We now have a squad of championship players and if we can introduce some of the young lads ready for next season we will be ahead of this season. The idea of the model is to have players ready to takeover for players leaving , but because we did so well last year there was no chance to introduce them . Hopefully we have a chance to blood a few young lads who will then be ready to start next season .
Well said. I think it was a good learning experience for the young squad - we almost did it. This season has had its good moments too but those are forgotten when all the off-field stuff took centre stage. We are getting closer but still miles off some fans expectations. - have a read of the Blackburn match thread
I wouldn't want to rotate too much. A better finish means more prize money for the club. Pembele is likely to get more game time on merit. Alese is coming back to fitness and should be given more minutes. Hemir is getting some time off the bench. 20 minutes here and there is fine at the minute. Bishop deserves nothing. Don't drop Patto. Watson is the only one, I'd give additional time to. Get him on the bench (rotate Roberts/Ba/Dack/Burstow) out of the squad and get Watson 4 bench appearances with 15-20 minutes cameos.
I wouldn’t use the word experiment but I would like to see some of the younguns given a first team start but no more than 1 at a time.
