Well it's just the truth. He scored 4 goals in 31 games in the 09-10 season. I feel really bad for him and his injury. Really bad. However, is he really good enough sole striker cover if Gyan is injured if you guys are aspiring to European places? Whoah, whoah hold on there. Rooney, Tevez, (old) Torres, Van Persie, Drogba, Ronaldo, Messi and so on are what you would call world class. Gyan is a good striker, I'd definitely take him, but unless he improves his goalscoring record to more than 1 goal per 3 apps (which he's had at almost every club) then he won't be 'world class'.
4-4-1-1 is the best formation to play with the players we've got or even the 4-2-3-1 that was shown off a lot during the world cup. To get the absolute best out of Sess he needs to be in the hole behind the striker. He's already shown he can score goals and create a few in the process. Then if we bought a LW we could have him and Larsson both drilling in balls from out wide and cutting in themselves. Then in the middle we have Cattermole who, on form, gives us a much needed bit of steel in the middle and Gardner who can put a tackle in but also we've seen he can score a few. Pushing Sess to LW would still work but it'd be a waste as he is better in the middle.
...and on that, Gyan can produce moments/flashes of world class stuff. More consistency, better service and he'll get 20 a season IMO.
Maybe. If Gyan becomes one of (if not the) highest goalscorer in the league next season with 20 or more, I'll call him a world class striker. Would you guys really want him to though? I mean if we're brutally honest, if he scores 20 (or anywhere near) goals next season, the biggest clubs in Europe will be swarming all over him as one of the best proven EPL strikers available. It would be near impossible to keep him.
I can see our best team being Wickham and Gyan up front with Sessegnon on the right wing. It's just a prediction like, but i think this will happen. I can see Wickham forcing himself into the starting 11 quickly. I think we've all got our ideas about how the team is coming together, but a lot depends on who else (if anyone) we bring in. Personally, i don't like the idea of Gyan and Sessegnon up front together. Sessegnon has been excellent up front, granted, but i believe he can be excellent on the right wing, too, and i think that's where he'll be needed. I can't believe all the Richardson loving going on here recently. Am i the only man that remembers Richardson's many, many horrible poor performances on the wing. How about Ji and Gyan up front (i've got a feeling these two will make a good pair), Wickham on the left and Sessegnon on the right. Plently of attacking intent and pace there.
