I hoe the 4th match will be the result to turn our season around and get us going. What concerns me is if Lloris doesn't get matches he will leave. There's Ade to reach full fitness and Dempsey but very little else. Drop Defoe for the 4th match.
I'm upset too, but the modern world seems to demand that we make conclusions on very little evidence, and this is reinforced by people immediately going to extreme opinions without anything inbetween, who are exactly the sort of people that TalkCrap love to have on the radio. Worst performance in 25 years? Do me a favour! (NB I saw us relegated and incidentally nobody booed.) No the signs are not good, but three games does not make a crisis. It provides an indication of how things *might* go. For those who think it means everything please advise if you think Swansea and West Brom will finish second and third in the PL, the positions they currently occupy? So we have a team with players that are unfit and/or unfamiliar and a new manager. I didn't want him, but will give him the benefit for now. It would be more surprising if everything clicked right away. Of course we should have done better but there is a very long way to go.
Worst performance in 25 years? Did people actually say that? We were worse in the same tie last season, FFS.
My biggest concern is the change in shape AVB is trying to convert us to, a high line playing mainly in the opponents half...whats the point of Bale and Lennon? playing that way negates both of them because their space to run in is greatly reduced. Defenders crap themselves when those two have a full head of steam charging down the flanks, but in these last 2 games, Bale just hasn't got room to get going. Just for a comparison neither have the intricate passing ability of say Mata when he plays wide, he's not as fast as either of ours...but he doesn't need to be playing in that system. This is the worry for me, last season we played deeper, bringing opponents out of their half creating space to get in behind. In the 2nd half of the season PL teams sussed out our achilles heel, refused to come out knowing we were'nt too good at playing through them and not needing to worry one bit about conceding a set piece against us!! And yet this season we are choosing to play that unsuccessful way with these players.
A guy said he had been going for 25 years and yesterday was the first occasion he had booed and the first occasion he had walked out before the end.
