Hey Bossman, just to let you know Tom Carroll was very good on Saturday. This was the first time I've seen the boy play to his potential and if he can keep this up then he can become a very good player. His passing was very crisp and he put in a few nice tackles. Also showed a bit of clever trickery to get himself out of some tight spots.

Ekotto was back to his imperious best after looking like he wasn't interested last week. What is it with this guy?!!!!

Cheers for that update swords, never saw any of the game so great to hear Carroll performed, especially from an unforgiving fan! He must have played well if you was impressed. Hopefully this is where he pushes on?

As for Ekotto, He has talent (such as ball control and composure on the ball) but for me you need a high level of concentration and positional awareness to be a great full back and that's where Ekotto falls short.

Ha! Yes mate, he was superb. You can be forgiven for misreading it. He's good one week and bad the next!

Quality footballer. If he had the attitude to match he'd be a regular in a top 4 or 5 team, any team in the Prem in fact: City, Spurs, United, Ars etc.

I guess his lack of it is why he's playing in the Championship as opposed to the Champions League :)

No he's playing in the championship because we had a prat of a manager who perceives that 'do as I say' constitutes football management. He was sacked.

Did he not have the same attitude problems when he was with you, IE not loaned out?

I saw no attitude problems on the pitch. All the so called attitude problems started with AVB as manager in my view it was the attitude of the manager that was the problem not the player.

His application on the pitch wasn't really questioned, he just liked to do some pretty risky things and he'd switch off occasionally.
How often do you see a defender take the ball to the corner near his own goal and then do something like this?

He can be extremely frustrating at times, but then he'll pull of a trick like that and you just have to LOL along with him.

That's interesting mate. He's definitely exhibited some on-field attitude/laziness since he's been with us and that's playing under 'Arry.

Despite me hating players like that I have to say he's the only one where I feel his outrageous talent more than makes up for it.

That's mad innit?! He's played himself out of the corner this season and you're shouting "pass it FFS!" but when he does it, like you say, you start laughing! Heart in the mouth stuff at times.

I do think though that he should be playing at the top level and from what I've seen, his attitude is holding him back which is a shame. Spurf, I know you're saying it was all AVB and you're probably right. All I'm commenting on is what I've seen of him this season and I think he has some personality problems to be honest.

I agree. But I think its more down to his head rather than playing ability. In pure raw talent terms, I've not seen many better.

Having seen Evra taken apart repeatedly in recent weeks, I'm not so sure.
Every time he's been up against anyone with pace who's willing to go at him, he's struggled really badly.

Tots you really have it in for BAE. You could pick apart any of our defence for moments of madness. Bloody hell some of our worst defeats in the last 20 years have been this season when he isn't playing for us. walker, Kaboul, Dawson, vertonghen easily make as many errors as BAE but because he does the odd fact trick which the others don't when he makes a mistake it gets massively over reacted about. If BAE had given away that penalty like Dembele at the weekend we would never have heard the end of it.
BAE is better than Rose simple as that so we should bring him back also considering we don't have any decent cover as well.

BAE sees playing football as a job and as long as he earns enough money then i'm sure he's happy playing wherever and for whoever.

At least he's honest.

17. <applause> well said CJ - spot on!!

Walker was basically **** for the best part of a season and although criticised was certainly never given the treatment dished out to Benny.
Rose has looked dodgy consistently and also committed the sort of error last week that would have brought a torrent of abuse on BAE - but is still thought to be 'better' than a proven international LB who has committed himself well on the pitch to Spurs for nearly 7 years. Our only other cover at LB is Fryers, who while at an early stage of his career, has yet to show any spark of genius.

But frankly it's hardly worth the effort in raising a counter argument these days.....

Yes it is many of us agree that Benny is the better left back. It's very strange to have a position that supports a manager who has been sacked for amongst other things alienating players.

19. So true.... There does seem to be a bit of a thread of double standards being applied here lately on this issue, when comparing alleged misdemeanours by players - from the perspective of poor man-management and also when applying possible sanctions. Benny appears to be the only one who committed such a heinous crime that he should never darken our doors again..... :emoticon-0130-devil

If Benny was better than Rose he would have been back at WHL playing,Benny is 31 he won't improve,Rose has time on his side ,and will improve.People say he is a failed winger,so was Terry Cooper,an England international in the 70's,when we had a good England team,I belive Rose will Become a Full International,Benny would not get in the England team, even if the was English
