Their bench was looking rather threadbare against Villa.

No doubt there were those who felt that with Willie Groves was a flop, considering the vast outlay of 100 pounds that was spent on him.

    I get ya.

Saints haven't a hope in hell of finishing top 4 (mind you, I said that last year about Burnley in the Championship). At this stage of the season and considering the unbelievable start they've had, they can look above avoiding relegation and even a top half finish and start considering that maybe they have an outside chance of top six and a Europa league spot. That would be an incredible achievement for a smallish Club that sold half their first team during the Summer.

I know what you're saying regarding wages mate but I can't help but feel that the Bale money was squandered. That's just the way it appears from the outside although as you've pointed out, it may not be accurate. It looks that way with the 'Pool now too. Even more so in fact.

QPR won the two home games and are out of the bottom 3 at the moment. Need to push on now, though Austin getting a ban won't have helped.
I wonder if Redknapp would like to bring in a certain Togolese striker that he's worked well with in the past in January? Could probably get him going, actually.

Think he'd be immense under Harry. Think a lot of our guys would do well under him actually, that's no disrespect to Poch as I still believe he's the right man to take us forward but still find it crazy that we got rid of Harry. I know he had personal differences with Levy and people got annoyed with his talks to the press but he done his best talking on the pitch and for the most part, we were bloody brilliant and enjoyed our best Premier League spell under him.

He's not had anything like that success at Loftus Road though, despite spending a load of money.
I enjoyed Redknapp's reign, but certain aspects of it and his behaviour annoyed the hell out of me. Largely enjoyed the football though, which I haven't been able to say since with any regularity.

Exactly, lets not forget the last 2-3 months of his reign, the football was dire, with a much better squad. "Bale, Bale he plays on the left" etc. That draw with Stevenage(?) was equal to anything i've seen under AVB and Poch.

I'm not so sure. He's only had 3 managers for over a season and has fallen out with each of them. Whilst 'Arry does love turning players around Adebayor makes so many poor decisions off the pitch I'm sure he'd have pissed him off too. At QPR it would be a different matter altogether, Adebayor would be the main man he craves to be and Redknapp would be making a Hell of a signing if he got him for a team battling relegation.

I think he needs to be at the right club though. With Spurs he was at a club with a good drawing power for good players, van der Vaart for instance would never join QPR with all due respect, Ade at the time wouldn't have joined them, Parker wouldn't have either and so on. So he was able to build the ideal team he pretty much wanted.

While he's spent at QPR, the majority have been cast offs and has-beens from bigger clubs due to the fact QPR don't have the same pulling power. Most manager shave struggled with QPR in recent years to be fair, despite the fact they've been able to spend fairly well.

Harry and Spurs just clicked in my opinion, yes like you say there were some annoying aspects but I think every club in the world has/ had an imperfect relationship with a manager but sometimes that brought out some form of perfection to a certain level.

Without a doubt there were some dire games but they were much more of a rarity under Harry. The past 2 and half years, it's been a rarity to see a good performance. This season I can only think of QPR and Everton where we've played really well.

I'm still puzzled by that lineup. Even looking at it now it makes no sense.
Cudicini; Walker, Kaboul, Nelsen, Dawson, Rose; Parker, Livermore; Bale; Defoe, Saha?
Then taking off Walker and putting on Kranjcar, before replacing Rose with Lennon. What?

He's out of contract in the summer with relegation battling Hamburg. Never say never.

And 3 games later they're out of it. Still having a fantastic season though

Speaking of players moving, any chance you'd take Taarabt back? The useless lump refuses to train for us

I think we've got enough players not putting a shift in at the moment, thanks.
    Shame, he had/has real talent.

Sorry, meant to have said would never have joined them at that specific time, where he was in his prime. Amazed we actually got him to be honest.

What an idiot that guy is, has so much talent yet never applied it properly or professionally. If he'd have had a professional attitude, he could've ended up at the very top level.

"Amazed we actually got him to be honest."

A PL club who just got a place in the CL.
No doubt word of the way in which the 2009-10 team was playing would have
    been forthcoming.

Similarly about the traditions of the club (are Spurs well known to the Dutch - paging Cove :) ) ,
and the way the supporters take to certain kinds of players.

So perhaps not so amazing all things taken into consideration.

I read somewhere yesterday a bit of gossip linking Robbie Keane with QPR on a 3 month loan deal. He seems to have kept himself in good shape and would be a useful asset to Rangers, although I was under the impression he and Harry fell out big time over the Ireland "golfing trip".

So was I, but I think his fitness might've been a bigger problem at other clubs.
I could never work out why Redknapp never used Kranjcar as his direct replacement when he ran out of steam, especially now that they've linked up again.

Keane's still a goalscorer and a presence on the pitch, but his movement and peak conditioning aren't there at the moment.
That might be because of the MLS, though. A few weeks training before being eligible to play and he might be back to 100%.

    You're right, Sex. He's a waster

Harry told the current squad there'd be no Xmas parties this year because of what happened with that "golfing trip". And low and behold, the front page of today's Sun is: http://www.not606.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=34360

You guys reckon Adebayor could be up for a move to a lower team next month to get his career going again?
