Does that relate to the cocaine and heroin? The interesting thing is that all the French players being charged come from an African/Arab culture which probably contributes a lot to their view of the world. They also lived in a country that disrespects them as a minority but praises them as French for 'sporting' purposes. Now that's a fairly potent cocktail! Perhaps we should look through their eyes for a moment before we get on any 'high horses'. But oh I forgot the wonderful FA have already dictated that context does not apply in such issues.
i love the idea that multi millionaire footballers are against the establishment....whilst earning millions from interviews, corporate sponsorship and advertising, image rights all on top of their £50,000 plus per week wages
Assou-Ekotto's responded: "I am disappointed to have been charged by the FA with misconduct in respect of my use of Twitter but I am grateful that as part of this process I will be able to present my case to them. I would like to reassure the fans of both Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers, along with the football community generally, that I condemn discrimination and racism in any form. During my seven years as a player at Tottenham Hotspur, my record of engaging with the diverse local community and my strong stance on anti-racism issues speaks for itself. I am proud that the work undertaken by my Foundation in educating young people has as its conerstone, inclusion and respect for diversity. I will not be making any further comment in respect of these issues whilst the FA disciplinary proceedings are ongoing, but would like to thank all of those who have provided me with messages of support since the charge was confirmed."
What is not made clear, however, is that this evil bastard was disemboweling and eating a baby as he typed this. And laughing the whole time.
Is it just a coincidence that two players from so-called big clubs get warnings for their comments but two players from "lesser" clubs get charged and face possible bans? Typical FA.
rcl The multi-millionaire footballers have become that because of their skill unlike those of the establishment, most of whom have got to their position because of whom they know or what level of society they were born into. Some of them, Drogba and Adebayor for example, do much more for the poor and disadvantaged than many establishment figures.
Free speech used to be allowable in the US except when posing a clear and present danger, i.e. yelling "Fire," in a crowded theater. It still should be. The ACLU defends Nazis not because they support Nazi sentiment but because almost no one does. Free speech is never an issue when the speech in question is innocuous. When you decide to ban speech as objectionable you need people to decide what is objectionable. Who decides who are the watchmen? And who watches the watchmen?
Oi Bossman, little Tommy had his best game for us yet on Saturday. If he can get some consistency into his game he'll start to become a proper good player. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/257859-MOM-Poll (Ekotto has been officially charged for that nonsense with Anelka)
Carroll, Jenas, Assou-Ekotto, Kranjcar, Redknapp... it's nice to see Spurs B doing well! Seriously though, I'm pleased that Carroll seems to be getting to grips with the Championship and I'd be fairly happy to see him loaned out to Loftus Road again next season, if you're promoted. We could have done with him at various points of this season ourselves, but the midfield's overloaded as it is, so he'd probably benefit more from regular games. Good luck with the play-offs, SH.
Oi Swords.....Cheers ...... He must have had a nose bleed when he nearly scored! His form has come too late to win a place in Brazil but he can still help you achieve promotion!
Carroll was out injured so QPR struggled and they weren't helped by Ekotto getting sent off in a 1nil defeat to Leicester.
A'wight boys! Is it true Ekotto has returned to you guys? If so, it doesn't make much sense. He plays all season yet when the Playoffs come round he's gone? Weird
Haven't heard anything, Swords. Doesn't seem likely. He didn't feature in yesterday's training pictures, whereas other loanees did. Fredericks (Millwall), Pritchard (Swindon), Obika (Charlton) and maybe others, but no Assou-Ekotto.
Oh well, I guess that's that then. One of the most naturally gifted players I've ever seen. But he doesn't give a toss. Not a hoot. Such a waste of a great god-given talent.
He has returned to us for treatment on his injury. This is normal procedure for an injured player to return to hos parent club for treatment. If passed fit, then he will be available for your second leg.
PNP: "The Evening Standard suggests that he's out with a knee injury." Hope the injured knee is the one on the other leg!
Good Lord help us. I really hope he actually gives a toss for 90 minutes http://www.clubcall.com/queens-park-rangers/assou-ekotto-to-make-final-1726160.html
