Rescuers who are desperately trying to reach a five-year-old boy who fell into a deep well in Morocco are entering the final stages of their operation.

not quite as gripping as the Thai rescue, that number of my friends were involved in, but non the less, a massive operation. In the past and even now I have negotiated holes of 8 -9" width so can appreciate the task of trying to rescue someone of much smaller size ..5 y o especially when at -28m it narrows, pics seem to show it is a rift as opposed to a tubular well as we have in UK etc. If anyone likes a good read try "the rescue of FLOYDD COLLINS.
We would hope today is all round joy of a City win and RAYAN rescued.

I sort of can appreciate the heavy machinery approach, but they have got tubes to him, person has been 4m from him [ food/water/comms ] must be excessively narrow to where he is but went through it! Of course not there so dont know the lay out.

not seen that yet, it is sadIn my time involved with undeground pursuits going back to 1960 I have been involved in quite a few rescues, including the last major 1 on Mendip, to my colleague who fell 40 foot and was in a coma for 2 weeks. But also via links etc been in in touch with quite a few other major ones [ to be honest sounds like it always rescues there isnt that many maybe 20 or so world wide ] 2 tragic accidents similar to this were Floydd Collins USA and Neil Moss UK.
Any attempt at rescue is to be appreciated. Whether the right way is a different matter.
As I pointed out in #3 someone got to within 4m of him and chatted and fixed up feeding tube.
