I don't think there's much chance in rushing him back. When they think he's fit I would give him an extra match not in the squad then one on the bench before thinking of starting him.
That theories gone already after the Liecester result Funny how he's gone defeat at Swansea and draw saints I'd have gone the other way
I meant the theory of extrapolating the points ratio so to far to the end of the season. I don't take much notice of trying to judge the points likely to be gained from individual matches.
We are not going to get a better goalscorer this season. The big problem we have is that better players wont come to us. We had signed Austin (subject to medical - and we let him go. We signed Long and we let him go. Who are we going to sign that's better than them?
So we need ANOTHER goalscorer? As well as Jelavic and N'Doye? And, another to back up the goalscorer we supposedly need? And I suppose another one just for good measure? We have N'Doye and Jelavic and Hernandez as back up. Loan a kid in from somewhere else (which is probably where a striker will arrive from, if anywhere) and that's four strikers we will have. Four. Why are people so obsessed with strikers? Is it because football is all about goals? Every transfer window we have people clamouring for strikers. We sign one, then a load of other players and when the inevitable question is asked by the media in some random article"do you think you need any other players?" the overwhelming majority always say "well, we could do with another striker". Why? We usually play with two at most. If one gets injured, then another pops in. If the other gets injured, then the other back up comes in. Two main ones and two back ups, that's what most have. Learn to appreciate the quality of the strikers we have. All strikers miss, if ours put away every chance that came their way, they'd all be worth £50m and be playing in the Champion's League. If Jelavic reaches double figures for us this season, it's a success story. He's a class striker, probably a little too good for us and we should be appreciative of who we have.
strikers missing in the game against leicester is not the problem.. assuming it is a problem.. ( if we go down) if a team does go down it's the whole team and coaching.. but honestly.. you can blame the manager so much.. 3 teams have to go down.. this is why i stopped posting, look you all know me.. i post in the heat of the moment but on reflection i try and offer an ounce of common sense and I judge what I see and we need a goal scorer coz we've missed some schoolboy sitters lately.. NOT it's just daft you play 38 games.. if you finish bottom 3 you deserve it we are a team fighting relegation, you expect our forwards to score every chance? we ain't real madrid.. get some realism if our players miss a big chance.. they hate it.. bruce hates it.. its part and parcel of football..
The news that he's back in full training this week and expected to be available on Sunday is fairly positive.
Football may not be all about goals Sterling but results and points are. We need goals mate. Hernandez better do something before the end of the season Sterling or he won't even make the bench for us. Putting him in the side at the moment would reduce us to 10 men imo - or is he another that will be classed as a 'contributor', 'target man' or (the favourite) 'hold-up player'?
I think most people's worry is that we were told he was expected to be fit for Lester. And was it Stoke and Sunderland as well before that?
I'm aware of that, but he's not had a set-back this time, Bruce just said he didn't want to take risks and Leicester had just come a little too early for him.
I'm not getting suckered into this argument again, you know my views on the modern game and I'm standing by them. Hernandez is capable of being a goalscorer, but his ability to play off of Jelavic was there for all to see earlier in the season. It's up to him to prove that he should be in the side over N'doye. Which at the moment, he shouldnt.
Hernandez is clearly adapting to English football. With a full pre-season I expect him to start next season and be scoring goals, no excuses. If he still doesn't then we ship him off. Look at Ideye at WBA, exactly the same scenario. They just didn't buy a striker in January so still have him starting games.
Or Felipe Anderson at Lazio. He was ****e in his first season - 13 games, zero goals - now much of Europe's elite are entering a £30m bidding war for him.
