It's crackers! argue all you want about the comparisons between that and other players, he simply isn't worth ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã30m If they're offering that much for Carroll, I can see them offering a large amount for Adam before the day's out, he is worth what Blackpool want, when you take into consideration his importance to their survival, if they go down they lose something near ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã80 (minus parachute payments). Many people would argue if they lose Adam they'll go down (more likely next season now). They only want about ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã10m for him, if anything they'd be getting ripped off a bit.
Isn't it true we almost signed Carroll (years ago), i heard he was at the training ground and everything but it ended up falling through. Not that we'd have definitely turned him into the player he is today.
I agree its madness. They should up there bid from Adam instead of trying to rip off little old Blackpool he is crucial to their success and need compensation for doing so however i think he will move in the summer for around 5 Mil as he only has 12 months on his contract in June
Surely not how long ago? More details please? Development wise im sure Deano would have been a good role model for the lad
this is hilarious.. 2 seasons ago I mentioned that City should look at Carroll and I was laughed off the 606 board "he's crap/he's got off the field problems/he doesn't play first team..NOW LOOK!!
ImperialTiger, His value is subjective. Therefore, to my mind, you cannot state he is worth 'X' notwithstanding the inclusion of your 'current transfer fees' model as a comparator. I am surprised anyone is prepared to take a chance with him as he is currently facing some fairly serious criminal charges.
I don't know the ins and outs i'm afraid, but it was a while ago and before he'd bulked up. Basically he was a gangly teenager with long hair at the time. I imagine we would have been happy to not bother at the time!
I agree with this although there are external factors (ie. Charlie Adam is worth more to Blackpool than the money they have been offered. He is arguably the difference between them staying up and getting relegated IMO. I wouldn't say that Carroll had such an influence on Liverpool or Newcastle's chances. In this instance, it probably puts a greater price tag on his head than that on Carroll's.)
30 million for a player who has only played two seasons of 1st team football and only 1 of those in the top flight is unreal.
Kadhira and Ozil cost Madrid 20 mil both had class world cups whats carroll done apart for have a half decent start to premier league life no more that 10 mil tops for him
Liverpool have offered 30% more for Carroll than they're paying for Suarez. Is Duffen negotiating the Carroll transfer for them?
gives the term panic buying a whole new meaning! The worst thing is though, if this deal goes through and Carroll doesn't fulfill his potential he will be forever regarded as one of the biggest most expensive flops from the premier league, joining such luminaries as Fernando Morientes, Robbie Keane, Djibril Cisse (anyone see the connection).
Just for the record, i would sell my car for ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã35m in case anyone's interested what a joke the Premiership can be
I wonder how the scousers would react if it was Hodgson suggesting buying Carroll for 35 million to replace a world cup winning striker?
We were definitely after him on loan a few years ago. I think part of the reason the figures being bandied about are so high is similar to blackpool's reasoning on charlie adam, those players are key to the success of the teams they're in (i know he's injured right now but still) and to rip them out in the middle of the season could be very costly. It shouldn't come as that much of a suprise that the bigger clubs are being held to ransom a bit.
carroll is on his way to liverpool for contract talks. must have agreed a fee of 35 million then. absolutely ridicolous!
