Sahin is not an offensive CM. He isn't an out and out defensive CM either, he plays a role almost identical to Xabi (which is why he didn't get time at Real this season). We don't really have any players like him but at the same time we don't have any places for him, he would be backup to Lucas (a little bit further up the pitch). Sahin is much better than Spearing but once again, would Sahin put in a shift on a cold wet Tuesday night in Stoke? I'd reckon its worth a try, if nothing it shows intent and not much risk on a loan + option to buy. Mourinho has said he would certainly be allowed to move as he wont be getting time at Real much (thanks to Xabi) Tello would be a fantastic signing, that would be the final piece of the strikeforce puzzle, and his style fits right in with Rodgers philosophy. As for Dempsey, now that we've signed Borini and Allen I don't see the need for him at all, where would he fit in? Old, overpriced, the only reason we're being linked to him is the US marketing opportunity. Notice how we've stopped talking about him as much after the tour? He's not going to sell as many shirts either, he's only got one demographic to sell to - patriotic American fans that only like the national team. Not very common.
Not best buds no but I work with a fella who's lad is in Citys u16 team. Reckons Johnson took over Stephen Irelands mantle of the having the biggest ego in town. And at City that's saying something. Doesn't mean he wouldn't be a success here or isn't a talented lad but that's the impression I get that's all add to that the fact that he seems quite happy to sit on Citys bench even though its costing him a chance of getting in the England team and it does make me wonder whether he's a player who'd give us 100% week in week out.

I think we need to be careful about over-rating Ramirez because we want him to sign. He's good and has a great future ahead of him, but he has a lot of work to do still. On Tello, he's a decent player who has goals in him, but he likes to do it all himself and hasn't got the quality that say Cuenca obviously has.
