3 clean sheets out of 5 games isn't bad, and it's not all down to Vorm. Trouble is we've lost Caulker to injury for 8 weeks or so and he's been fantastic at the back. I thought we defended really well yesterday though.
There were a couple of shaky moments, but you were ok. Speaking of OK, how's Neil Taylor? That looked pretty nasty yesterday.
Think he's OK and didn't go to hospital which is a little curious with a head injury. Needed stitches but should be OK for next week.
the three best for me are. Dario Grady. With out that man little Crewe would have been in the northern premier league 10 years ago and also managed to get them in to the championship. Dave Jones. for giving me so much joy at his failure to get to a play off win. Harry Rednapp. dont know why just like the guy. The worst. Peter jackson. F*cking hopeless. Brian Laws. F*cking hopeless. Burnley fans must have been jumping for joy in signing him at the loss of Owen coyle. Gary Megson. Just dont like him or rate him.
Best Alex Ferguson - Need I say more? Owen Coyle - Has a track record of getting the most out of unfashionable teams, whilst playing decent football. Dario Gradi - Hadn't thought of him until TLF mentioned him, but what longevity. Their academy pumped out some half decent players too... Worst Jean Tigana - What did he to again? Paul Jewell - Again, never been impressed by anything he's done. Dave Jones - Probably just because of the banter over the years, but I reckon that half of the other managers in the Championship would have had that squad promoted last season.
3 Best Fergie - The best manager in my lifetime imo Wenger - He has probably had more influence on the premiership than anyone including Fergie. Moyes - With the funds available to him, he has done wonders to keep Everton where they are. Although I still can't believe he payed 11 million for Yakubu 3 Worst Dave Jones - Had the squad to get promoted several times, but failed where others would have surely succeeded Avram Grant - Did ok with a fantastic Chelsea squad and then got relegated twice consecutively with West Ham and Portsmouth, having spent plenty of money to keep them up Roy Keane - Even though he did well to get Sunderland promoted in his first job, he is just too damn angry to be a good manager
Dario Gradi is a great shout in the "best" list. Surprised noone has Sousa in the "worst" list, though. He had many detractors at the end of his stay.
At the end of the day though Vetch we finished highly, and despite his detractors that's no mean feat given the size of our club and the resources available to him. Alright, none of our strikers were never going to score goals, but before Sousa came in we could never have been accused of having a strong backline, and we had a really nasty habit of leaking goals late on under Martinez that got shored up too. I think without that season of intense defensive tactics, we wouldn't be so strong at the back today, so we do have something to thank him for. There's a lot of managers worse than Sousa, who would probably have got us relegated that season!
You'll hear no complaint from me there Scott. I wasn't one of his detractors. He did teach the team how to defend, and the benefits of his tutelage are apparent now,so good on him for that. I also think he's got some style.
Best = 3 out of Holloway (brilliantly honest) Poyet, Pulis and Moyes (Just look at what they have done with their sides) Worst = Keane (How much money does one guy want to be an failure), Di Canio (trying to have a fight in the tunnels with your new signing is always a sign of poor man management lol) and McCarthy (Terrible manager and an even worse pundit...forever marred my memory of the World Cup having to listen to him spout complete nonsense for 90 mins!!! ggrrrrR)
ok maybe i should said 3 most repected and hated not best and worst, i probably did the former. My three best and worst and i dont know sfa about the lower leagues would be SAF, Moyes and Harry R and i will admit Pulis is doing a fine job with Stoke and obviously Poyet with Brighton. Worst atm and by no way do i mean he is a poor manager but wenger (Has he lost the plot), odriscoll from doncaster and McClaren
