There is no better system for stretching an opposing team IF you can keep the ball, 3-5-2 is a possession formation, to play it and make it work keeping the ball is essential especially v any formation playing 3 up front.
I think the system suits the players we have perfectly. I think you have to play Sturridge and Suarez together throug the middle to get the most out of them so its this or 4-4-2. We aren't blessed with fantasic wingers but wing back will suit Johnson and Enrique perfectly. Really looking forward to seeing a front 3 of Suarez, Sturridge and Coutinho all playing in their best positions with Moses an excellent option from the bench. I think gerrard and henderson look an excellent partnership in midfield aswell, just hope Rodgers has the balls to stick with it rather than bring Lucas straight back in. Mignolet Toure,Sakho,Agger Johnson,Gerrard,Henderson,Enrique/Cissokho Coutinho Sturridge,Suarez Looks pretty tasty to me
He kept Skrtel and Sakho in ahead of Agger. Got rid of Reina for Mignolet. Dropped Downing for Sterling, and then reversed it months later. He stood firm with Suarez all summer.
Nice analysis of our formation.
Or 4312: Migs Johnson - Toure - Sakho - Enrique Gerrard - Lucas - Henderson Coutinho Sturridge - Suarez
Great video I think this sums the system up quite well. Carra is representing the positives whereas Neville is looking at the negative / oppositions point of view. As many of you know, I tend to look at it from the oppositions view and how I would look to get at us.
Neville's right about attacking the wings. But crossing in to a box packed with Sakho, Skrtel, Toure and Mignolet?
I would if Rodgers originally planned to play like this: --------Toure---Papa---Agger-------- -Johnson---------------------Enrique- With the team as it is in front. And would you like to see this happen?
