With Walters, he didn't want to be at the club, he wasn't performing and it was time for him to go anyway.

Bruce never stayed on the pitch long enough! Always a red card waiting to happen! Why no mention of Alan Lee? He was a decent signing, scored some good goals and was a decent signing at this level.

Alan Lee was a superb finisher but the laziest centre forward in the history of football. If he could be bothered to run he'd have scored 30+ a season. I think he was an influence on the apathy of the whole side.

I liked Bruce he had his down points but I liked his attitude and actually was a decent defender. His problem IMO was his best position was CB but he's very small for a CB so to make up for that sometimes I think he had to go in a bit harder maybe made him a bit more rash!!! IMO if he had the generic make up of Delaney he'd be a top defender at this level, although his long ball distribution wasn't great!!

As for Alan Lee, I thought it was the right decision at the time, he wasn't at the club at the end of Jim's reign, he sold him to Palace. I thought he was good in a side at the lower end of the Championship but not good enough for the direction I thought we were going in under Jim (or the direction I thought we were going in), we needed someone with a bit more quality. We were playing attractive football under Jim and although he could play football our style of play I don't think suited his style, he likes the battle and because we were playing more tippy tappy stuff this took something away from his game IMO!! The problem is we never really replaced him with a better target man, Stead had more quality about him but was not a target man or someone who could lead the line!!

I remember you saying this before and I can't believe it now as much as I did the first time you said it!! For me Alan Lee was one of the hardest working players I've known at Ipswich and that certainly wasn't his down fall. I don't remember him being a particularly good finisher either, not bad but it's not something which stuck out!! He used to force the ball over the line by putting his body on the line. IMO we really could've done with someone like him the past couple of seasons!!
