I assume this mean that we won't be offering Burton a contract, unless we manage to offlaod a few more players (i.e. Birchall and Lee)
 
If we do sign Cody Mac I can only assume the plan is to drop Kedwell into that CF role that Rooney favours, I have said for a long time I think he would thrive their with two strikers ahead of him.

Would also explain out midfield situation a little.

I think we'll definitely sign at least one more striker - even if Burton is offered a contract. You have to discount Birchall (who I'm sure will go out on loan), so at present we only have Kedwell and German. MA will want at least four front-line strikers on the books by the start of the season. The 4th person could well be a loan rather than a permanent deal. However - if we do get Cody as the 3rd striker, Deon may just get a deal...
 
I think 4 strikers is important and Birchall will not be one of them so Burton needs to stay and then we need another striker.
 
i hope German is being signed for back up rather than starting 11. Too much of a Dennis Oli style about him (quick but a shocking touch and not many goals). A decent impact sub in my view, although i think MA's stretching it a bit to say he "made" the 2nd against Plymouth when he was put through one on one and ballsed it up.
 
I personally see this as a great signing,a few people taking views on a player they have seen twice,trust MA,and i thought he was great against plymouth,let's give him a chance before we start slating our new players.
 
I wasnt slating him. I said I think he's a good backup but I hope we can attract better for the 1st 11. A touch of caution rather than slating him.

And if I cant judge him on 2 games (which i didnt really, i just expressed an opinion based on what I've seen) then how can you judge him as "great" based on 2 games?
 
Forgot about us getting rid of Birchall <doh> then yeah one more stirker (please please please be Cody) is needed with Deon. I will be quite happy with Cody, Keds, Deon and German as our strikers. Lets not forget Weston can play there aswell!

That is what we need. Would be happy with them 4 as I feel that is a good attacking force for League One.

At last good to see the Mad Dog is listening to me. Obviously seen the error of his ways, just a shame he never kept on to our own youth instead of playing on the Le Manège enchanté like Zebedee. Just because he brought us our first title in 49 years some people think he is God with a candy loving puppy called Dougall (Monty)...with every supporter on a high, like a sketch from Tulisa asking for sweeties. Statements like 'Smashing League One' might fool Monsier Lenny and those still in the dream of Championship years but the long haul drive under the cover of darkness from Dubai to England with a certain tortoise has made him realise the value of how much I actually know.

So he signs 21 year old Antonio German to try and appease me. Problem is everyone tells me he is a striker. Personally i would have thought he was more of a winger or midfielder. I know my eyesight is failing in recent years, especially as alwaysright already thinks I'm more blind than the ref but let us look at the credentials. One goal in 2013, that's outstanding and not quite sure but around about four goals in 2012. Erm...I guess that must make Keds absolutely prolific?

Don't get me wrong but I like the only decent German personally. I saw him play once, now what game was that, my memory fades me. Like a breeze through the Gordon Road Stand. Hoadie I saw your comment on twitter! Let me remind you...'Yeah you are losing it'.

So from this supporter that is losing it, we now have a winger who imo is really a striker (Weston) and a striker who is really a midfielder or winger (German). So I guess MA will be following my advice yet again and switching their positions. Mark my words I'm never wrong, just look at Joe Martin as an example, I always told you what an outstanding left back he was.

I bet your now all in suspense waiting for the next edition of 'youth v experience - I told you so'. Anyway I've got to go, there is a knock at the door and some guy standing there with crazy eyes and a smile, looking for more guidance.
 
I think that people are getting too tied up on labels; "first team", "back up", "midfielder" and "striker". Judging from last season I don't think MA gives ant credence to such labels, to him it is a squad game, which no set line ups, formations or positions he picks what he considers that strongest team based on the opponents and the condition of the players and I suspect it won't change this season. Essentially German should just be seen as just a players Allen can see a role for.

Yes, good to see you agree with me BSG - lol - I blame that Hoadie for starting this and sticking labels on people. Where's my rottweiler when I need him?
 
with Cody being told by Coventry he is being released must make us firm favorites to sign him.
