Wigan are in the Premier League Supers so you're not comparing like for like. There are other factors of course like the current manager and ownership of any club but I think if it's a choice between Swansea or Aston Villa, that player's going to Villa. Leeds or Hull? Forest or Bristol City? Ipswich or Posh? Sheffield Wednesday or MK Dons?
Not only that but Liverpool have (just) won the League Cup this time around because they've got a man who's hungry for and has experience of winning trophies. There is a vein of experience running through any successful club that they can keep tapping into. Roy Keane chose to do away with that, much to our detriment, but Frans Thijssen has spoken about wanting to come back to coach alongside Patrick Kluivert, so there's another example of how your trophy cabinet and history can help you win on a Saturday
I don't think Ipswich and Norwich are similar in stature, we have a much more impressive heritage. It always amuses me how patronising the national media are towards you... last night's Match Of The Day 2, Colin Murray was full of praise for how Norwich are a credit to the Premier League, what a good job Lambert's done over the last few years... if Town were in a similar position they'd be talking about whether the glory days were coming back to Portman Road and whether we could sneak back into Europe![]()
i laughed out loud when i read this!
the national media are disparaging to both our clubs because of location! last time ipswich were in the premier league i can vividly remember fans moaning that they were never mentioned and that you just wanted some credit where it was due - we currently have the same problem (if it is a problem). you are vastly overestimating what the outside world think of your own club. to the rest of the country, ipswich town are a small provincial club, just like norwich, who once had a decent team under a great manager but are generally thought of as a championship club. you won't find many fans of big clubs wishing ipswich were back in the premier league - you aren't a big club and in all honesty never have been. in fact, i bet if you ask anybody under the age of 30 who the bigger club is, they'd all say norwich because they have grown up with norwich being near the top of the premier league in their memory whilst ipswich have had one season flirting with the upper echelons. my old man supports your lot and even he thinks norwich are marginally the bigger club simply because they have more potential long term - nobody will dispute that ipswich have been more successful cos its there in black and white, but you are living in a dream world if you think that anybody outside the region gives two hoots about that!

you misunderstood again!!
