Master Minded struck into himself, sounds like he may have severed a tendon. Is in the best of hands, fingers crossed fella
Now I am well pissed off - tipped up Thomas Edison E.W on debut hammered in and finished unlucky 3rd. Ran well in bumper lto and has just won at 12s. Sure it is an unraced O'Brien horse considering price tag and breeding
**** me I've had 5 out of 6 at Kempton today - Tetlami. Grands Crus, Binocular, Kauto Star and Knight Pass. Plus Milgen Bay e/w 3rd at 16/1 in the 1:25. Marvellous, it must be the Becks
I'm disappointed that C4 didn't show a recording of Mister McGoldrick parading, before the racing, at Wetherby. Happy retirement Mister McGoldrick...one of my faves...thanks for the memories.
Not sure it it was the jockey alone or team tactics but it seems strange they allowed Kauto Star a soft lead again. HOWEVER, having said that, I just watched the race again and coming to the last down the back straight (4 out) Long Run was only 2 lengths down and SWC was rousting him along to close on Kauto Star. But he just couldn't do it - Ruby pushed the turbo button after the 4th last and SWC was basically rowing away from then on in trying to close. He jumped the last 3 adequately but KS winged them and got away from them quicker. Long Run's stamina started to kick in after the last and he was really closing KS down as they raced to the line - KS tiring and for me coming to the end of his stamina as a 12YO. I can't see him holding of Long Run up the Cheltenham hill and tbh I hope they don't even attempt it.
I was so glad to be wrong! Had Long Run in double with Grands Crus but cheered on Kauto after the last! A horse of a lifetime, we all hope he wins a 3rd Gold Cup! All credit goes to Paul Nicholls for a remarkable training feat, some people (including myself) thought he should be retired after last season.
Unlike the bunch of ****s I support - leading 1-0 after 90 minutes and then conceded in the 91st and 95th to lose 2-1. As if last week wasn't bad enough
One of the greatest acts of courage, determimation and sheer class i've ever seen on the racecourse !
ODDY----one good footnote to that is that old ARKLE will be pulling out his grey pubic hairs, and be in terrible pain. dont often watch live racing on tv but had tune in for THE KAUTO SHOW------wow------he gave me a tear in the eye--galloping them into the ground--brilliant and nice to see BINOCULAR does have a pair of balls SEASONS GREETINGS AND GOODWILL TO THE LOT OF YOU i was on comp with GALAXY before i went out last night.i was in the process of having a glass of benedictine to toast OLDEST (he got me onto that firewater)----so galaxy toasted at his end.
Sounds like ArkleSupreme is now writing for Sporting Life: http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/...ing/11/12/26/RACING_George_Arkle.html&BID=465 Got to be some twat to put an article like that up today, completely lacking in any context comparing the 1960s to modern racing. Load of old bollix
I'm not going to read it Oddy. I've had a fantastic day so far. Been to heaven and back and then switched on just in time to hear Wycombe go 3-1 up after our goal keeper had save a penalty. Couldn't be better.
Just got in. I said I would happily give up any winnings for a Kauto Star victory, and I am still close to speechless. It is the most remarkable of turnarounds for a horse of his age. Pure, pure class. Absolute stardust he is. He jumped like a champion yet again, heroic. I cheered Kauto on to the line, "one jump for history my man!" I think I said, and he delivered. Simply the greatest staying level weights chaser of his generation. He has now run in 6 successive King Georges, which alone is remarkable. But to win 5, and to wrestle the crown back when you are a week away from turning Twelve on your SIXTH running was simply something you could not script. For me, the Gold Cup is too far now. Surely Long Run has his chance to outstay him there. But that's for another day. Can I just say thank you to everyone who contributed to the King George preview thread, you were absolutely magnificent and isnt it wonderful to see how it all unravelled on the day. Congratulations to Oddy, who is in terrific form of late it seems, on picking Kauto. I hope Epona has been scraped off the ceiling after you got your Kauto victory. All in all, just remember that we were a part of history. We might not ever see that feat repeated. A one-off, a superstar, a legend. Kauto Star
Toppy - your intelligent and articulate threads (including the "spotlight" series) are an invaluable part of this forum and prompt some of the best debate I can remember seeing - keep up the good work
