One of my favourite games, stood in the Fulwell end singing my head off.

On this day, 25 years ago, second-placed Sunderland brought table-topping Millwall to their knees, thrashing the Lions 6-0 at Roker Park.
Craig Russell bagged 4 of the Black Cats’ goals. Martin Scott and Phil Gray also scored.
sunderland went on to get promoted that season. Millwall were relegated.

Remember it like it was yesterday. They never won another game all season. Superb

I was in the Fulwell End with my youngest daughter for that game (her debut) . . . . what a fantastic introduction for her :emoticon-0100-smile

Craigy was her favourite player for a long time :emoticon-0105-wink:

Our season ticket seats are exactly where we used to stand in Roker Park, and I look forward to the time when we can return to our seats in the Fulwell End early(ish) next year :emoticon-0148-yes:

p.s. if I remember correctly, Millwall were top of the league at the time :emoticon-0148-yes:

p.p.s. thanks for the reminder, BK

Only Sunderland would then go on to appoint a manager who took a team from 1st to last place in half a season :emoticon-0140-rofl:

Last night I was looking back to our first game against Lincoln and trying to remember what year it was as it too sticks in my memory although I was not there it was at Sincil Bank a few years ago, in my search for information I came upon a site under the name of Statcat, and for anyone on here who like me was unaware of it, it's worth a visit to replenish the memory. I discovered we didn't get beat 1-4 as I had remembered but 1-3. The reason I remember the game is that It was a mile stone in our history, our first ever league game, outside of the top division of the Football League, and until that game, we were only one of two teams who could make that boast.

Arsenal were the only other team that had never been out of the top division, and as far as I know, they still are
