Genuine Q here - Would i be homegrown if i played for a sunday league club? And if it was FA chartered would that affect things? Genuinely just seeing where we draw the line!
@JamesNursey: Also in @DailyMirror #LCFC Chris Wood set to disappoint #WWFC again as striker still wants to stay & fight for place with Prem side
Homegrown is if you have been at the club for around 3 years between the ages of 14-21 or something like that so no.
Here's that link again Ed: http://www.premierleague.com/conten...s/Premier-League-Squad-Lists-January-2014.pdf As you'll see, you have to "registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday." It'll be any club that plays in the F.A. Cup.
But the team i play for is not in the FA cup, but is an FA chartered club, so in the rules here is that a 'home grown club?' Whereas some teams we play are not FA chartered so within the same league different teams players would be classified as home grown, am i right?
As far as I am aware mate, EVERY team registered with the FA is eligable to play in the FA cup. Sunday sides & lower leagues play in the preliminary rounds and normaly get knocked out by league 2 - 3 teams and GM conference. At least thats what happened at certain clubs I played for.
Without going off and researching it, I'm not sure. FA chartered clubs as I understand are those that clubs that have been vetted by the FA (probably at a cost) and are given access to local FA facilities, funding, tickets to U21 games and women's matches and the use of the three lions logo. Therefore, I'd be temped to say that was an affiliation (certainly is in my book!) but I can't be 100%.
I always thought an home-grown player had to be a British citizen and trained here. All this confusion just to allow Arsene Wenger to bring in as many young foreigners as he likes!
