Don't fully agree. Some other clubs in the league don't seem to be in a position where they need to sell and after the profit we have made from transfer the last few seasons, coupled woth new sponsorship etc. Why isn't they quite a big pot to play with? Maybe they is and the club are being very clever about it, I hope so in anyway's.
Our kit and sponsorship deals were pathetic mate, now they are top 5 Premier League level. We can only look positively at this!
That reply was at the quote before you lol It does seem a good deal for the club, guaranteed. I am just sceptical about how much of it we will actually see available for transfers.
Aye, we'll have to sit and see mate. The one sure thing is that as a club, we are stable, and have a platform to go on to the best times since before many of us were even a sperm! If that means taking dodgy African dollar, then I'm all in mate!
We aren't taking a dodgy African dollar though? Tullow is an Irish company, working all over the place, but with a very large share-market in Africa. Everyone seems to have these misconceptions about oil companies... as a member of this industry, i can tell you there is nothing more dodgy with them as with any other industry. Only difference is the number of zero's added to the share holders annual reports. Africa itself is a corrupt place. It's not the oil companies that did it, but the Africans themselves. The oil companies aren't handing machetes to people telling them on their birthdays which limb they want removed as part of their presents. It isn't oil companies handing AK's to kids, getting them high on drugs so they can massacre villages. The world needs oil, these companies are providing supply for a huge demand. They are paying the governments the money for taxes they want, but its the governments that are failing to give that money to the people. Not the oil companies. This deal is brilliant news for SAFC. Sure, it is a start up NFP with only Tullow and SAFC on it so far, but look at the interest this has drummed up for IIA... Surely now more people will know about it. And has been said, its not a charity, merely a suggestion to bring more money into Africa and help it out, help its people out. How many other sponsors in the EPL are doing that? Virgin Money? Nope. Chartered whatever-it-is of Liverpool? nope. And as for Safc83, this is Ellis investing in SAFC. He has brought in 20million quid a YEAR from a wealthy sponsor who is looking to do good, and it is up to the board to spend it WISELY. Keane and Drumaville spent ridiculously considering our sponsorship was 1million pounds a year as has been suggested. We needed to get rid of the deadweight to truly compete. Good job ES, Miliband and Byrne.
As I see it..we are now seeing the benefits of having a world class businessman in Ellis Short coupled with the business nous and political awareness of Milliband. I reckon it was a good piece of teamwork that secured this deal...good to know we have these people looking after our commercial interests
Haggis, I have no issue with oil companies whatsoever, what I was sayin is I don't give 3 ****s either way, as long as SAFC benefits!
I do, i work for one and still have to pay through the nose to fuel my car. Knowing what it costs them to get ths stuff out of the ground and knowing what i have to pay, daylight robbery mate.
When people sponsor with that amount of money they expect exposure of their brand in a positive light. MoN will be backed and his car will be shod in a new set of 225/40/R18 Hankook's The Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 utilises the latest technology to maximise steering response and improve high speed stability while the tyre's water drainage system ensures safety on wet surfaces. its quite hard to beleive theres 20m p/y going into your club off that sponsorship deal! How many years is it? Hats off to Mr short (If that who deals with it?) if true! Btw Just wondering if Niall Quinn might have had anything to do with it? Wasnt he doing some international advertising on your behalf or what-not?
Totally beyond me, personally Im chuffed at the thought, of how much stabillity 20 mill per season can bring.
