What does everyone think the retained list will be because a bit surprised cirkin has had an operation without a club to go to?
I guess you have the operation when the operation is needed. It looks like it was a planned op to remove some metal pins he's had in place

Simon Moore has already renewed according to the lads at the Echo and the others are likely leaving, maybe Europa League changes that a little bit but not holding my breath.

Retained List is supposed to be this week. I don't think there will be any surprises on it.

Can't be that much of a shock - he's barely played, is out of contract and RLB repeatedly evaded any questions on his future

Maybe I’m easily shocked!

Just thought he was a known quantity who could step in when needed if we could keep him fit.

He could have been . But like Dan Neil, he did not wish to sign a contract.

I always thought and said that both of them were very badly advised. I'm often wrong, but I was right about that.
Could be all sorts going on that we don’t know about. Maybe he’s a bit homesick. Sad that he’s leaving, but he never disgraced himself in a Sunderland shirt.

I always felt the same about those two. No inside knowledge whatsoever and might be completely wrong but there was plenty said about contracts being offered to them and sure of Neil it was said it was to being signed while in the Championship but they never got signed.

It was like they were not wanting to commit to a Championship club if they could get a move to the premiership. We then get promoted to the premiership and they no longer feature and the contract offers either aren't there anymore (Neil imo) or are to sit on the bench (Cirkin imo).

All just theory on my part from what people said over the last couple years.

Dan was offered a contract at the start of this season as was Dennis. Dan in particular was offered a new one in the promotion season around the time Ballard signed his.

His agent has obviously told him to hang fire. Very bad advice. You get that first big/biggish contract signed, and go from there. They have both left a lot of money on the table they'll never get back.

Both good lads though, and I really wish them well. But I don't think it's quite right for anyone to say they were pushed out, though they might have left anyway.

I felt sorry for three of them (Patto being the other), but wish them all the best for the future.
I feel sorry for the Championship lads, but let's be clear, if we had a team with Patto, Cirkin, Neil, Roberts, Mepham etc etc we'd be preparing for a season back in teh Championship right now.

Heart says sorry for them, head says absolutely the right thing
