Don’t rate them that much. Not saying they fluked play-offs as they’ve been fairly consistent all season but they’re nowhere near as strong as Leeds going forward nor as good defensively as Burnley. Even though they beat us 2-0 at home under Walter, I thought they were bang average and my opinion hasn’t changed.
That’s the championship, right from the bottom to the teams near the top apart from the top two, for me in many games there wasn’t a massive difference. That’s why we we had a chance and beat teams like Sheffield utd and Sunderland yet lost to teams like Derby and Luton. Your right though when they came here I wasn’t overly impressed. Equally I’m amazed Sunderland have gone up because I wasn’t that impressed with them.

I think Sunderland have a bit more about them. It’s a young team and they seem to be following the Brighton blueprint. They already replaced Clarke with Mundle before they even sold Clarke. Le Bris is a better and more dynamic coach than Wilder as well, in my opinion.

I have a lot of envy for Sunderland right now because I’d love City to be a club like them. They’ve got wealthy but pragmatic ownership who are in it for the long-term. They’ve produced some real quality from their academy recently like Rigg and Watson. They’ve got a young squad but most of them have been there for several years now and have a lot of games under their belt. There’s continuity. They have great attendances and loyal supporters without having to be bribed with silly gimmicks.

They are the antithesis of everything City are under Acun and they’re in the Premier League. We are not and don’t look any closer to being in the Prem.

Echo most of that and have always admired Sunderland. One club city. Says it all.
