Middlesbrough firm up striker interest with £5m bid https://the72.co.uk/2024/07/30/middlesbrough-bid-bristol-city-tommy-conway/ Bristol City receive Middlesbrough bid for Tommy Conway as striker edges towards BS3 exit Tommy Conway's exit from Bristol City seems inevitable after the striker was forced to train with the U21s after rejecting their latest contract offer https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport...ristol-city-receive-middlesbrough-bid-9446392
It will be interesting to see if any of the others were ever truly interested and now make a move. As is often the case with these things, it takes one club to make a move before it stirs others into action. Hopefully it creates a bidding war, albeit it will unlikely be a large one.
There is still a chance for other clubs to come into the mix with Burnley understood to have made tentative enquiries, albeit with their valuation of the striker not aligning with what City want. A healthy cash offer for Conway could also help the Robins in their pursuit of the Clarets' Scott Twine who is understood to still be a target following his loan spell at Ashton Gate in the second half of last season. Weimann training with Blackburn. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport...ormer-bristol-city-favourite-training-9446069 Is it just me, or does anyone else feel he still had something left in his tank for us? Absolutely gutted he left - assume it was money - certainly not lack of effort or commitment. I can’t imagine that Blackburn would pay him more than we could offer……. Great professional - by all accounts great with the youngsters too.
I believe it was to do with a clause in his contract regarding how many games he played, he had a slack handful before it was triggered, as his contract was up at the end of the season, and being our 2nd highest earner, the board bombed him out.
I can see lots of clubs thinking we should pay 6 million for him with a 25% sell on. Why wait to get him for peanuts next year. NOT
no... think he was born in Austria and came here as a kid ... p[layed football in midlands for Villa/ or one of the other main clubs in area we signed him from DERBY?
