Transfermarkt lists his main position as attacking midfield (no10) with secondary positions of Left wing and Centre Forward
That is a real surprise. He has done wonders at Coventry, no loyalty by clubs. Great player for us, and good respect by most football fans. He won't be unemployed for long.
Fitness updates from todays press conference: Sargent – Had surgery – 7-8 weeks out Forsyth – knee - 5/6 weeks Hills – Back – Back in training today after a few weeks out Hernandez – Too soon this weekend Fassnacht – Knock to his knee on Tuesday Gunn – Should be back after international break – West Brom game Nunez – Should be back after international break maybe not West Brom Mclean – Additional game ban for misconduct. 4 games for that tackle means he misses this weekend and West Brom Sorensen – 75mins and 90mins after coming back from injury, only planned to give him 60mins
Yeah as NorthCity says apparently is conduct or language towards the official crossed a line. Seems extremely harsh for a tackle that probably deserved a red but maybe only a one game ban
JHT on the injury situation: "Everything that we do, we need to look at. The muscular injuries are Marcelino, and we knew that Anis came with some fitness issues from Sheffield and had a hamstring injury just a couple of months ago, so we knew that he wasn't fully fit and wouldn't be able to play 90 minutes consistently for us - that's why he's only played 65 minutes so we could limit the risk. The cases that we need to look into are Liam Gibbs and Marcelino Nunez. The other cases are more situations with either suspensions or knocks in games. That's, unfortunately, part of being a football player. We look at everything, also with a critical eye. It's not, again neither the players or the staff, to blame but to see if we can come up with even better solutions for the future." Fassnacht had a little knock to his knee, and it's swollen, so he was not in the session today; hopefully, he can be back tomorrow, but we'll have to wait and see. For Angus, West Brom is realistic. We still have to see how he reacts to training on the pitch. With Marcelino, there is a possibility that he can be back for that game, but it can be a decision to see if we need to wait a little bit to make sure he's fully fit when we put him in again." https://www.pinkun.com/sport/interv...pledge-find-root-norwich-city-fitness-issues/
Alan Arac, who worked wit JFH at Nordsjaeland is joining us but in what capacity is not yet revealed. It seems he worked within the youth setup there.
A team of the season so far has just been published and we have three in it. Doyle,Sainz and Sargent. so why are we not top of the league? OTBC
Partly, and only partly, because Long is our backup GK. Whoever at Carrow Road thought he was a GK let alone a good backup GK worthy of a 3 year contract. He doesnt seem to have mastered the basics such as never be beaten at your near post or how and when to come off your line for crosses and corners. No wonder Millwall fans held street parties when we took him off their hands.
Re. Long being only partly to blame -- with which opinion I concur -- keepers are only the last line of defence. If they are called on to make a save, it's because those in front of them have allowed the opposition a chance. That's all 10 outfield players ahead of them, not just the back four. The cornerstones of our defence this season are McLean and Núñez. If they are absent, the midfield is less effective, the back four becomes less effective, and the keeper behind them more exposed. This translates into a higher xG per shots on target faced. If you look at the stats, the cumulative xG of shots on target per 90 mins faced by Long is close to double what Gunn has faced!
