so the inquiry [ Covid ] opens with a video of some of the people who lost someone and want answers, and upset Lady Hallet, the chair, it would be unfair unkind even disrespectful to make to many comments about their length and consequences of mourning. However many many people have the same anguish over losing someone who have accepted the consequences of covid being a rampant killer disease and have now gotten on with their lives ...probably well over 3million of them, maybe as nany 5 million?
It is sad that certain ethnic populations suffered more than others, dna type and how they live as multi generations within the same roof etc. At the end of the day everything was done to try to combat the march of this horrible killer, whether errors were made or not ..lessons were made and learned.. unfortunately as life has shown in the past via hindsight.
I suppose we can now look forward to different media's taking different slants on a daily basis.......................

I don’t believe in our lifetime we will ever get the real truth.. The findings from the inquiry will be there to satisfy the gullible imo.. can you imagine the outrage if it was found that the scientists got it wrong!!!

science is far from exact, take penicillin it was developed with a lot of missed positive ..[ like first go add this to this and that to that and eureka got an anti biotic ] it took loads of attempts ... small pox was another example! etc etc .....
people catch a killer disease and different means are used to try to control it ... key words ...control it ......

eg lock down and the case numbers went down......
1 case .... one of my Thursday crew caught covid when pubs reopened and you could go out in groups etc etc .. we all kept 2m apart and wore mask's my friend got talking to a woman in the local pub .. we had a meal and were leaving .... although had a mask [ we all did ] he wasnt wearing his she didnt have one .. he ignored the 2m rule and 3 days later had covid as did his wife a few afterwards ...none of us did?
    was science right?

I mixed with loads of people (at close range, less than a metre) that so say had Covid throughout, right up to just a few months ago, as did my Mrs as have my immediate family (living in different areas .....me, nothing, them nothing apart from one that had very mild symptoms ......was science right?

But why is the inquiry going to take over another 3 years !?

that is just one of the estimates!
When you analyse the "6" items to be covered you can see that some are already addressed as hindsight has highlited them. so a waste of time spending time raking over old muck!
PPE was an issue but how many .gov's are going to keep a stock of 1bn items just in case, and have to replace them periodically? maybe at least every change of parliament?
We none of us can actually say losing a loved one was not a sad affair, but some people take a lot longerthan others to reconcile and some probably never. The stark reality is we cant bring them back, no matter how they passed. Being fairly close to the stigma of carehome death's, there is a very large argument that the number of residents or aged people sent back to their care home / a care home by the NHS was a serious contributor. Luckily!!!! the one I am closest to only had rooms for those that were resident, and were in hospital temporarily for "other reasons". Of the death's there during the initial covid only 2 were attributed to covid although they did have direct links to returned hospital patients. The home was like fort knox regarding covid, all aspects were strictly adhered to and they got through it with minimal cases.
point is all these families "ganging" up in groups [ there are dozens all over the country ] led by solicitors etc are going to take up x month's to put over a whole raft of cases, individual stories!
the bottom line is however .. whether things were done rightly or wrongly ... all are hindsight.... as no one knew what that the disease entailed or how it it was constantly re evolving. I take my hat off to all those from the PM down for trying their best..my only caveat is that I believe the NHS returning "affected" patients to care homes resulted in 1000's of premature death's

Put your name forward, I’m sure they’ll listen to your reasoning and get the inquiry done in no time :emoticon-0105-wink:

todays the day.. the first covid inquiry mainly surrounding Boris.

politics is all smoke and mirrors and fibs and innuendo's and often a waste of parliamentary time to do things useful....
Red KEN! as the mayor for london back in pre 2011 told a number of whoppers, big whoppers in a bid to get the Olympic games to London! when the dust settled and the games took place he was complimented mostly on having achieved it......... had he not been very very very untruthful it would never have happened!

PMQ's ............ in the past decade have, especilly the past 3 -4 years fallen to a new low, it is just personal or collective attempts at belittling [ trying to ], PEOPLE BASHING! different personel past and present and the the projects they try to do. Political points gathering without concern to the people of the UK and the important things needed to be done. Wednesday the 14/6/23 was a disgrace to real question being asked of the PM ................

So the umpteenth inquiry is all about [ mostly ] Boris.. and unless there is definitive physical proof he did /said /whatever then the result is going to be a Brian Rix...
not read the report so have no opinion on it yet whether he did or didnt or whatever.. so dont say/reply " thats your opinion or you support Boris". I always keep an open mind and look at the bigger picture!

First thing I notice is that they have weved in his comments about his resignation ....
It is titled and was ready last week or few days before ...

    STATES FIFTH REPORT OF SESSION2022-2023

so how can they tag in something that has happened after the report has been completed!

His resignation statement breached confidentiality requirements by criticising the committee's provisional findings

The important things that are needing to be attended to economy immigration strikes food prices inflation are all now going to be put aside as they debate the pro's and cons. Summer recess is coming! so lets not have one or haved it curtailed, and put aside, as they tear this report apart either for it or against
in parliament time. It is a stalling tactic by the opposition parties ..all of them .. they came out straight off yesterday in PMQ's with sarcastic remarks and "call a GE !"
They should take 2 weeks out of the recession ... 10 days in Parliament and have 1 day for each of the above important things and at least 3 days for all the things they have missed out dealing with by bickering and mud slinging

It’s a bit rich blaming the opposition parties for delaying tactics, I agree we shouldn’t be wasting time on Boris, but if he a) wasn’t a liar in the first place, or b) took his medicine once caught, none of this would be happening

It says something that the biggest liar of all - Blair - has it washed under the carpet.
Compare an illegal war to lying about office parties and I ask what the hell is going on.
Lets not forget that Boris led the brilliant vaccine roll out but that's OK.
Leaving the EU is something the establishment will not forgive until they get Starmer and the Lib pact returning the UK to Brussels.

Boris is an habitual liar, he lied to parliament, he’s been found out. For once in his life he should take responsibility for his actions. Instead to form he tries to blame everyone other than himself, the rules DO apply to him as well. He needs to grow a pair and just take his medicine.

who said anything about Boris and the current tactics of the opposition parties using slanginging match's and voting down things when they have debated individully in support [ or some cases against ] .. thats the whips doing the job by the party leaders!

I wonder if you actually know how parliament works? :emoticon-0105-wink: 80% is not what you see it is to do with allotted time! Get Bris out of your head .. he is under scrutiny let that run its course, keeping on bringinging back into conversations is about like not being able to let go about past players/ directors /managers etc! KS brings up the same things almost every couple of PMQ's .... has the Q .. GETS THE ANSWER! then decides a couple weeks later to reinvent it!

Went for a wander around the GLASTO SITE .. AROUND NOT IN IT ! viewed from a hill opposite, my mate lives there has free tickets also does work for Mr Eavis! This year it is massive outside the fence is loads of extra "cashing in's " anyone with space is having camp sites / parking he also was able to point out all the different areas and stages etc. some villagers near and around rent out houses or caravan on their drive ... his son has a 11 bedroom room house uses it for weddings / events.. just rented it out for £30k for 6 nights with a xtra£15k deposit as a damage waiver ... returnable if no damage!

And that makes liar Blair better ?
Boris has been found out, fair enough he’s got what he deserved
    But Blair is far worse
Not only did he lie to to the house, he took us into a war where we had no need or right to be
He’s a war criminal and I signed the petition saying he should never be a Sir
Instead, he’s influencing politics still and the likes of the WEF
He should be rotting in jail

Boris has been found guilty, Blair hasn’t been, that’s a big difference.
Blair could sell sand to the Arabs, I agree, he’s very persuasive, Boris is an habitual liar . There’s a difference.

    They’re both liars
    Everyone knows it too
It’s a mirror copy of what is going on in America right now
The Clintons and the Bidens are liars and money launderers from the likes of China and Ukraine and family members are receiving millions
But the lefty DOJ and FBI aren’t interested at all.
All they want to do is change the law to suit themselves and find any technicality to stop Trump while they themselves get off Scot free
Meanwhile America has open borders and the Democrats will do their utmost to ensure that everyone crossing the border will vote for them irrespective of whether they are legal US citizens or not
If Starmer has his way the same will happen here

I don’t really understand USA politics or follow it that closely, but didn’t they find lots of classified documents at one of his homes?,which as far as I understand he’s never denied. He’s tried to say it was ok because as president he could declassify them, which is fair enough, the trouble is he was no longer president when they found them.

I think Trump like Boris thinks he’s above the law, they both had privileged upbringings and aren’t used to being told they can’t do things. They both lie for a past time, to the extent I don’t think they even know they are doing it.

Hilary Clinton trashed servers and computers that held classified and damaging information and has never been investigated
Biden kept classified documents in his garage until they were recently removed
Trump, unlike the others who are career politicians, doesn’t need the hassle and didn’t even take his salary while in office
But I believe he’s a patriot and a genuine conservative who really does want what’s best for America
