I only watch it for balance, as JGF’s reports of it are so biased ( I know he claims not to be, but he is really) :emoticon-0105-wink:

As per the game show, that would be a lie.
But I watch his shows and out of the others trying to give advise I believe him more that anyone. The downside is reading the web you’ve got to be really careful as he’s one of the most used person to endorse websites (my brother got caught out with one of these and agreed to a high fixed rate a year ago)
I like the fact that when asked something on his show he’s open and honest and says that “he’s not sure” rather than trying to answer, until he’s found out.
I also find it funny when he suggest saving ideas the websites crash. Especially that government one when he said check the NI contributions.
So when he says this is a good fix, that company’s site will crash and gaining new customers which could drive others down. Just needs one to start the ball rolling.

I started listening to him years ago, he was on the radio at the time, but not so well known. I used to have more spare time than I do now, so used to follow much of his advice and saved loads, he’d often say if you’re willing to spend the time you’ll save money, but if not he’d offer other advice. I like him he’s very down to earth, not at all arrogant and seems to care about the less well off.

I’ve said before that I fail to understand how forcing people to pay more for their mortgages will bring the price of food and other essentials down.
in fact, all it does is make people desperately poor at the time when they need money most in order to survive.
It would appear that the financial pundits at the mainstream news outlets also starting to agree. Raising interest rates has done nothing to curb inflation and has inflicted misery on thousands of people.

We also now have the highest rate of inflation in Western Europe. Why? Brexit - or government incompetence - or both?

Why is inflation still high? Will it affect my mortgage?

NURSES..... I have friends who are in the profession, and they have not gone on strike at the moment 4 are unison and one is RCN [ about to change ]
Reading through the comments from 3 different sources the RCN seems to be bullying the nurses and the NHS .....LOL ... new lower statndards of bullying now include blackmail [ although I suppose it already have been for years "playground bully.. give me your sweets or I am going to thump you" ] ...........

Asked whether the RCN could not simply change the dates or end the strike earlier, Ms Cullen said Mr Barclay was splitting hairs about the definition of six months, instead of negotiating.
"What they are doing is dragging our nursing staff through a court room, and I find this not just cruel but totally unacceptable," she said.
Nurses "carried us right through the pandemic" and now they are "treating them as criminals", she said.
"How low can a government stoop?", she added.

How low can they stoop? ask KS! EVEN MY NURSING FRIENDS say " its about time people stopped using covid as bargaining chips, we did what we signed up for, and in the hour of need stood up and got accounted for, many others did as much if not more!" ..The last part I find difficult to agree with, any one organization did more? for me NO

WHEN ASKED the many union leaders all have the same tune ... we are striking because the .gov wont get round the table... well in most if not all they have and those that they physically havent they made a statement! THE COUNTRY CAN NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SPENDING SOMETHING WE DO NOT HAVE OR AFFORD... now what parts of that do the labour run union bosses do they not understand? these "bosses /puppets/ puppetmasters get paid without loss of income whilst they cajole the members to freeze on street corners [ some take the strikes as a means to go on a few days recreation like a neighbour! ] and have to disrupt their lives or that of others to do so!

    continued from #931

WE ALL went through austerity to return the UK back into prosperity after the massive Black hole left by the previous .gov: SO we are all the "so called" 25% short v inflation... but HANG ON inflation was only / mostly less than 2% and we did or most did get pay rises [ across the board ] as the PRESENT .GOV increased the minimum wage. did this actually just apply to the lowest paid...... NO .... to maintain pay differentials pay grades above were adjusted so almost everyone benefitted! SO a poor excuse to say they have been robbed by 25%.

GREED is usually paramount when you get a serious spike in inflation... instance pre covid 4 hostelleries I used to have a drink in all had beer at similar prices about 45p top to bottom.. same beer from same brewery... now the lowest price is £4 a pint form £3.10 to £5.80p a pint from £4 .45p a pint. For birthdays or special events my circle used to buy a barrel and put it on, on a Saturday night as a free drink in the clubhouse .. My last barrel [ 72 pints ] in 2019 cost £130 [ £1.80 a pint ] .. my mate a few month's ago paid £170 ....... [ £2.36 pt ]
EVERYONE [ retailers ] are cashing in spuds are pretty stable in price but chips are now over £4 a portion and it is an excuse to cash in the " euphoria of inflation .. people conditioned to think ..**** inflation everything more expensive just have to pay it " WILL IT ever respond to lower inflation ... No

In a letter to Mr Barclay, NHS Employers' Danny Mortimer said: "The advice that we have received makes clear it is highly likely that if the notices for industrial actions are incorrect in one respect, then they are incorrect in total and that the strike action for the entire period of 30th April to 2nd May is illegal."
Responding to the letter, Mr Barclay said he had "no choice but to take action".
"This legal action also seeks to protect nurses who could otherwise be asked to take part in unlawful activity that could in turn put their professional registration at risk and would breach the requirements set out in the nursing code of conduct," he said.
Ms Cullen said this was a "blatant threat" to nursing staff saying "if you don't stop this and accept my pay offer than your registration may be at risk". ...COMMENT from a woman who regularly says "do the right thing"!!

should it be correct it is illegal, then her comment splitting hairs should be ... we have or havent crossed the line in the sand

Diane Abbott has been suspended as a Labour MP pending an investigation into a letter she wrote about racism for the Observer, the party has said.

I intensely dislike Abbott and her toxic views and I’m glad she’s on her way out of politics.
However, her recent comments, whilst clumsy and stupid, were nowhere near as downright offensive (to me) as her comments she delivered about the IRA years ago. That vile spout of anti-British verbal diarrhoea should have got her banned from politics for life way back.
Mind you, it’s dangerous for all you ‘true blues’ on here now because with Abbott gone the Labour Party are slightly more electable………

Makes me laugh at Starmer, he has named himself 'Special K', Sunak named him 'Sir Softee' added to 'Captain Hindsight' and 'Flip Flopper', pick any name you like but Abbot should be booted out of the Labour party alongside Corbyn both permanently, Starmer would gain a lot of credence to his credit if he cut them both loose.
