Nicola's replacement ... amid polls one day saying NO at less than 50% want independence and the day after another saying Yes at more than 50% .... Yousaf says snap election to find out the truth, or whether they might win it [ he is very much pro leave the UK. Would save us English /Welsh and NI PEOPLE A LOT OF MONEY! wonder what the Scots currency might be Scots pounds? A Haggi a Dram?.....

On Saturday Mr Yousaf secured the backing of outgoing Deputy First Minister John Swinney and the SNP's Westminster leader Stephen Flynn.
The endorsement of Mr Swinney, the most high profile party figure to endorse any of the candidates, prompted accusations from Ms Forbes' campaign manager that the SNP hierarchy were "absolutely panicking".

wow Swinney and Flynn we have seen them in action! Could be a sad day for half the scots people. Maybe it will become Scotland, with the Highland peoples Republic further north and the the lowlands Peoples republic in the south!

I didn’t agree with her politics, but Sturgeon was head and shoulders better than these guys. Imo she’s a very good politician, unlike any of her replacements.

I did think she did quite well during Covid ... when that was the "only real" thing on the agenda ..

It’s difficult to judge as obviously I don’t live in Scotland. I’ve read that’s she’s thought better of down here than in Scotland, but I’m not sure whether that’s accurate or not.

Well from my experience that is in the NW, but mixing with people from EDINBURGH area upwards to Inverness/ Aberdeen Nicola and Blackford were not appreciated [ odd one or two had different outlook ! ] Family were divided some what, although only 1 in law was actually very much a luvvie of them both.. but based on their attacks on south of the border!

2023 is turning out to be a rather anomalist year so far! Due out in a few minutes or 12 today it has risen by 1% so that means a £100k mortgage is costing another £85 a month
Boris has sat through the final days of an expensive hearing to see if he misled the parliament .. money spent on it would have paid for a dozen or more nurses .. even maybe 2 dozen!
Xi visits Moscow, 2 hours after leaving Russia sends wave 1 of missiles at Ukraine civilian infra structure followed up by wave 2 a few hours later which was aimed at school and more civilian infra structure so Putrid either taking no notice of Xi or Xi .... or ... Xi said carry on we only want your oil ... and you are usingup at the cost of many Russian lives the armaments of the West .
Inflation reacts to veg shortage and hit 10.4%
PMQ's again a poor load of exchanges which achieved nothing positive ...

historic interest rates 2% or less for a decade [ pre Putrids war ] maybe 2 years to get back to that. In May next forcast/ action would be better [ no change ] due to the rate of inflation is calculated on a 12 month comparison, at the present it doesnt reflect the start of Putrids war and the hike in OIL / GAS prices and the costs involved in actions from them [eg transporting food from grower to consumer ]
I am interpreting it that May's consideration of inflation will be against a higher cost of gas / oil 2022 to what it is now ! so biggish drop to maybe 6-7% or less..

the biggest problem is that companies have willy nilly jumped in on the band wagon ... we have been conditioned to the war high [ temporary ] prices but wont put them down again or will prolong doing so = greed! People at the top dont have consideration for the masses eg CEO's stating hike up the price I dont care more profit and bigger bonuses for me!

If she had her way, Scotland would still be locked down now even though the pandemic is over and the only people that the world should have protected all along were the vulnerable.
She was a power mad, idealogist, who oversaw a country failing in many many respects. From the worse drug death rate in Europe, to a bad NHS and worse education system, who has at least done the right thing and fallen on her sword.

There is depravation in Scotland now that was there at the end of the Second World War. How can that possibly be right nearly 80 years on ?

Humaz Yousaf is another who needs careful watching. This is the guy who forced through the hate bill where you can be prosecuted for talking out of turn in your own house. Think about that.

The Scottish Nationalist party are a ‘one policy’ party and would take Scotland out of the UK as well as the EU.
They are similar to UKIP in that they are all about independence and are simply not equipped or interested in anything else to do with running a country.
Still, the Scots keep voting for them.

Sometimes I wonder who is worse; the scheming politicians who spout their trash and lies, or the twats who constantly believe and vote for them. That could apply wider than just Scotland……..

‘Bored’ asylum seekers say living in £6.8m taxpayer funded hotels is like ‘living in jail’
Nearly 400 hotels are now being used to accommodate more than 51,000 migrants hoping to claim asylum in the UK.
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1750851/asylum-seekers-bored-taxpayer-funded-hotels

Just about tells us all ~
    * Very unhappy about their hotel living space
    * Want a home so they can be independent
    * Bored - Bad food - Like living in jail
    * Want proper houses
    * Rooms are to small
    * Don't want to be living in a hotel

Well I guess we must try harder.

We have to get to a point where there are proper routes in and asylum seekers are processed quickly. Also have a proper immigration process to allow us to decide who we allow in that way.

with respect part of your comment wrong and part is the way forward [ in a way! ] There already is number of "off shore" routes that genuine Asylum seekers should use and do use .But maybe these away from our shores stations that say sorry to applicants mean they try and come anyway .. and the likelihood is those that not genuine dont anyway.
Speeding up agree with however if they didnt come here then system could cope with a small number.
Near dover is a yard [ very large enclosure ] with all the boats stored in lines ... go back to the boats in the lines from 2018/19 and they are about big enough to carry 4 people -- up to maybe 6 people safely likely they carried double that ... go to the lines for 2022 and they are big enough to carry 30 -40 plus people. And therein lies the problem swamped with applications and lack of places to put them

dont know how the voting went for the election of Humza [ method employed ] but a sorry day for Scotland. One can only hope there is enough disbelievers in the party to join the opposition on some of the votes that will take place . set a target of 2028/29 for a referendum before confirmed elected!
Will try and take on Westminster ... as Nicola did ... she got told no way ... she resigned !

yet another shooting in the USA, it would seem that these know they will end up dead so a sort of suicide mission. Even locked doors don't work!
Sometimes "this freedom to ..." is a bit sticky. When you go back 30 - 35 years, early days of internet, various crimes were almost unheard of, or the frequency of were well spaced out!
Modern day thinking, brought about by 1 or 2 generations after mine, and a few others on here! have a much less concerned approach??? toward life today. Certain crimes have dramatically increased one of the main ones being Knife crimes another rape ... on a lesser theme [ friend in force ] states theft from shops/ stores is rife punishment is basically non existant.
IMO a lot of shops/ companies readily go to online and close high street's shops because of losses due to theft. I have been at a local supermarket 3 times in last 11 -12 month's when there was a fracas at the door and security / staff were wrestling with a thief/s [ 1 male and 1 female / 2 females ] 2 females were wrestling with 4 staff and items of clothing/ food/ goods were spilling from there attire! Male had stolen bottles of spirits . 2 were smashed in the fracas ... other female went quietly was a regular apparently and was so called banned.

who is the best actor? SANDERSON who is supposed to be brain injured and have mental health problems yet on the stand was very dramatic and could remember every single detail!!.. well his version of it.
The clarity of it would to me make me think it is a well rehearsed story maybe invented as his defence ... if he loses [ has 6 lawyers on his team it seems ] will be paying all the bills. Paltrow an Oscar winner in the film industry ... does have a sense of "normality about her" on the stand she seemed less dramatic and more in keeping with her approach to what happened... jury is out ... will be soon

I'm sure that there are plenty of UK families that would exchange their cold/damp and food free homes for a 3 or 4 star warm hotel with 3 square meals a day being provided to them free of charge.
If they don't like it here and word gets 'back home' perhaps it will stop tens of thousands of others from overwhelming our already broken systems.

There's a TikTok video showing the Refugees Welcome march in London. There's a guy asking dozens of demonstrators if they'd be willing to go on a list to offer a refugee a room/home.
Guess how how many said yes.
    Not bloody one !
