Still think the xs profits made due to ridiculous costs of gas/oil should be taxed higher though. Just seems fair to me.

JRM is a top man. I've known him a long time through business but mostly through charity interests. His accent and diction is something to behold. When asked about laying on the front bench he said, 'ah a trifle embarrassing'. I told him I loved it, winding up the Brexit naysayers on the oppositiion benches.
indeed silly you...! how do you question something that hasnt been announced? we know there is an issue with the war the economy energy etc .. the opposition for almost 3 years has been tunnel visioned ... anti brexit anti brexit .. then covid covid covid doing itall wrong ... when we got out of it it was partygate party gate partygate [ oh musnt forget from day one it was so we lost the GE by loads give it a few months then slag off the .gov and get onto having another GE ] SINCE partygate and Boris standing down, EFFORTS MADE TO CUSHION THE ENERGY CRISIS, and although a new PM IS ON THE CARDS IT HAS BEEN need a GE now ... or what are you going to do about the economy/ energy hikes? QUESTION the .gov, yes absolutely, help the .gov? strange as it seems yes, in some areas of concern ... there must be at least 20 or 30 questions need asking about other things ... pollution .. infra structure .. agriculture ... rogue groups like the erjits glueing themselves to pavements and motor ways or defacing buildings stopping traffic etc ... etc etc these are actually all on going with statements or little or no action taken .. ... yep silly you expecting answers to information not yet delivered.... patience ....
Did anyone notice on Liz's history file that she attended a school in British Columbia in her younger years? Obviously that's why she got the job of Prime Minister due to her exceptional educational background and the influence Canada had on her upbringing. Well done Liz.

She's been quite clever, helping with energy costs until next election......we will be billions in debt, but not many would trust Labour to pull that money back....not quite clever but very clever!!
The bill for having a cap of £2,500 for gas/ electric bills will be massive, it’ll need to be paid eventually whosoever is in power, I happen to think Labour would do it in a fairer way, you disagree, we’re all entitled to our own views.
Aside from raising taxes or borrowing more I’m all out of options The economy has been ruined worldwide by Covid rules and mistakes made by many governments so is there an alternative ?

well as Kwarteng says a new era First observations is that markets do not like his speech. But most of it had already been leaked, a few new bits added and the reasoning behind it all unproven. Reply from shadow chancellor was predictable, and endeavoring to take credits where credits not really due. It is easy to say a raft of things and then in the future cherry pick the ones that line up as simple as stating City will win lose or draw on Saturday on 3 different occassions, then claiming one of them to be " thats I said" A difficult one is not windfall taxing the energy suppliers, doubt anyone on here can work out its pro's and con's. One thing for sure is that the 3 or 4 major companies [ Shell/BP/etc ] do not make all their profit from supplying us! the profit is a result of dealings in many countries. SHOULD we take as laymen first sight of £say ... £100bn profit and apply a tax of 25% then that would leave £750m but a dozen other EU countries might feel the same way! so MAYBE France / Netherlands/ Belgium / Spain etc all decide to tax at same that makes 5 of a dozen countries all wanting 25% .... a lot of people made this assumption! NOT correct you have to apportion the profit from your country then make a decision... Rishi's windfall tax was not double figure £bn's just low single figure [ ok it was a tax and would on the face of it come in useful ] Reduction of NI and personal income tax ... another minefield. without the Putrid war reducing peoples spending power, a reduction in % of tax paid will allow, generally allow greater spending [ more disposable income } so more goods sold = a general increase all round and a greater sum to claim other taxes on. Housing will never suit all of the people all of the time a minefield ..... [ affordable housing built into developments at present, but what is affordable ? it doesnt compute ] Point of todays speech, simply a precursor of information and the as promised doing something from day one. The next real budget will be the acid test.
