West Ham have confirmed that their joint-chairman David Gold has passed away at the age of 86 after a 'short illness'.

I remember sitting a row (or 2?) in front of him in a PL match at the Liberty Stadium that we won easily - and then his car was ‘halted’ by angry West Ham fans outside ….

David (Dai) Duckham was one of rugby's most talented backs of his generation. I will always remember, and was fortunate to see him in the 1973 fixture between the Barbarians and New Zealand in Cardiff. More poignant memories though are from watching him close up playing for Coventry against Neath at the Gnoll. A great player RIP Dai <rose>

Jeff Beck, one of the most influential rock guitarists of all time, has died at the age of 78.

The British musician rose to fame as part of the Yardbirds, where he replaced Eric Clapton, before forming the Jeff Beck group with Rod Stewart.

His tone, presence and, above all, volume redefined guitar music in the 1960s, and influenced movements like heavy metal, jazz-rock and even punk.

Beck's death was confirmed on his official Twitter page.

RIP <rose>
