That's generous of them. I don't think any other Clubs in the bottom 6 have players in the Team of the Week?
HT Charlton 3 Crawley 0 We’ve missed a couple, but playing some good stuff. Glad I tuned in. Clayden on the left and Blackett Taylor on the right look lively. Deji looks comfortable, Barker looking positive. Elliot Lee with a well taken goal.
FT 6-1 no clean sheet win, Pearce bundled one of their players over in the box. two goals for Josh Davison. Good run out for the youngsters/fringe players.
I'll take that result any day. It's embarrassing when we usually lose these types of matches through lack of will, so praise to NA for putting out a fairly strong team. The players need a few confidence boosts at the moment and this will help. I still think we've shot ourselves in the foot by dropping 8,9 or 10 points with the weak squad we had for our first 4 games but hopefully that will prove to be the lowest point of the season.
This should be of interest to the fans who keep saying we need someone else to take the corners. In the absence of a left-footed player Albie is having to take them all, and accurate corners are not as easy as some seem to think, especially away swingers. Shinnie was probably the best corner kicker we had, but those stats show that Albie is decent at them. He does have a tendency to overhit his freekicks, and I wonder if any of our newbies are deadball specialists?
I think the Club had to say something about Schwartz. He's just gone unmentioned for so long, all kinds of rumours and speculation has built up about him. OK this statement hardly actually says anything. But I guess it will quiet the questions that keep coming up before each game "will Ronnie be on the bench..." etc.
Louis on the Charlton Live podcast- "I wonder how he got that injury, must have been in training, or climbing off the settee".
Early season results are notoriously unreliable. In 2019-20 Charlton won 4 and drew 2 of our first 6 games. We were second in the Championship. At the end of the season we were relegated. The current situation must be resolved in the next three or four games, in my view. Either Adkins begins to turn it around, or somebody else does. There is still all to play for.
