Sad news on a Christmas Day, the former England and Surrey opening batsman John Edrich has died aged 83. Edrich played 77 Tests from 1963 to 1976 and appeared in the world’s first one-day international in 1971 against Australia, hitting the first boundary.
I’m saddened to read about John Edrich - yet another of my boyhood heroes has died - the great umpire in the sky has raised his index finger and John is out....
