no, but as I said before my nephew is black, but wasn't bought up with the 'I'm black and therefore all my failings are because I'm a victim of white supremacy' mentality.
and neither was Obama, a 2 term president.

Not everyone’s experience is going to be the same. And I think Hamilton is a bit too successful be blaming any kind of failure on anyone.

I don't think we can wipe out history, nor should we, we should learn from it, but we need to make 100% sure ALL Lives Matter and everyone is treated equally. Not positively or negatively discriminating between anyone.
    Anyway back to F1:
Not a bad race really, I wonder how they can change the rules to make them a bit more unpredictable like today?

The safety cars made the race, and not sure the Magnussen and Russell exits really needed them.

The race was getting a bit dull so they just threw then out to close the pack up.

    Certainly worked!

As a race that could have been a procession and was in some respects for 1 and 2. But mostly that has everyone thinking this is not a slam dunk Lewis march to glory. If he has to work for the title it will be more satisfying for him A good season opener. I look forward to more of Seb's antics as the season progresses. Liberty take note, a clown is entertaining! Sorry Seb, a tad harsh but the alternative legacy is down to you.

While I agree, from Mecs point of view having Lewis as the driver with the most WDC in history (potentially equal this year but who knows next?) is good marketing and therefore good for business.
If they had Ordered Bottas to let him past I would have understood but still be disappointed. We don't know how many races there will be this year. So every opportunity counts and they can't afford to miss one.
Gladly they didn't issue any orders to Bottas, well not that we were privy too.

Would have made sense to let Hamilton go to try maximize points after the penalty, but imagine the controversy if he'd somehow (highly unlikely) pulled out 5 seconds on Bottas. Sheesh... The fallout would be a mess.

but surely if racism is so endemic in the UK, it should be at least similar?

Yes . Someone on our board pointed out that if they had asked VB to, let LH through , it would have been to keep LH in position , not necessarily to let him win .

Might be down to social distant marshaling. Might take longer to group up and move stricken vehicles. Could be a common thing this season.

Lewis kept the steering lock on, unlike some we have seen, his only option was to ease. Lewis took the penalty gracefully. If he is to take the title this season then more than any before he has to earn it himself otherwise history may well be unkind.
A shortened season and DAS advantage, he needs to earn it. I hope VB makes him do that. No team orders, thank you.

DAS - I only noticed it being used on the formation lap and behind safety car. I do wonder if/when Red Bull will fit their version. Horner seemed to quite forcefully correct the interviewer when asked about 'mercs illegal das' that it was a 'legal' system!!!!
Just watching the C4 highlights so hopefully be able to see if it's used more than I noticed first time.

I initially thought it was a nailed on pen, but watching again it seems more of a racing incident than any intention to squeeze... But he can't have too many complaints over it.

The Hamilton-Albon incident looked like a slam dunk penalty at the time. The more I watch it back the more it seems overly harsh, maybe I should stop watching it as it's only a matter of time before I'll be compelled to abuse Albon on Twitter for the incident.

Although the accident was on the exit, Lewis did squeeze Albon on the entrance which I think is the reason for the penalty, not that I agree with it, it's a racing incident imo.

Good to see McLaren on the podium, going in the right direction, could be back in it next year when they have the Merc PU back in the car.
