2019/20 PL Season

The broadcasters here have been experimenting with crowd soundtracks from the identical La Liga fixture last season with goal and foul 'sounds' ready to play as and when required. They have also been trying to overlay live action with pitch-side crowd scenes which worked reasonably well for some game play. Hopefully Sky will have been using the time to experiment with the technology at their disposal to make the viewing experience more enjoyable. A few glitches aside, the La Liga games haven't been that bad to watch - you soon get used to it.

 

Well done to Marcus Rashford.

There is nothing more scandalous than hundreds of thousands of children going to bed hungry. In a relatively rich country like ours. He achieved more than a multitude of politicians including ministers like Matt Hancock who initially castigated footballers. The government were prepared to fight a Labour motion until they saw that Rashford was carrying large swathes of the population.

He's already done more than any sportsman this year.

None of the virtue signalling like many celebrities but real concern for children who were going to suffer.

Although the season is a goner I cannot wait for football to restart. A bit of normality.

Ole may well play Fernandez with Pogba but I hope like you he gets to use Pogba if things are not going well or to give him a run out in the last 20 minutes.

 

Wednesday sheffield united, Saturday FA Cup. Both significant games.

It's a difficult watch, eh?

I kind of watched the first half but it was too tempting to go sit in the back garden with a beer after that so didn't see much of the second half. From what I saw, we played pretty well but it still looks like training to me.

Reckon we'll get top four though, no probs. Six points behind 'guaranteed champions league' Leicester is hardly insurmountable for a start.

City beat Chelsea tonight as well (which they surely must to delay the boak fest ) and we're only two behind them.

I think the FA cup is going to be proper meh without fans though, even more so than the league. The final will be in any case.

 

It's been so long I can't even remember who else is in the FA Cup and haven't bothered reminding myself.

Still think our best bet is probably winning the mini knock out europa league.
At least it's not like last time though, when Mourinho chucked in the towel in the league to win the EL.

We can see where we end up in the league and pile on if we don't get 4th. Which no doubt Wolves will do as well so makes that comp very interesting.

 

But as Diego reminded me, wont 5th place also get a CL spot, due to Man City's ban?
I can't see the whole ban being overturned, maybe reduced, but certainly not overturned.
Though you never know with UEFA, if Mansour greases the right palms.

 

Can't really rely on that but City could get one season instead of two so, yeah, that's also a possibility.

Our next few games are all absolutely winnable, should be in fact. Last night wasn't really expected though, I thought City would at least draw tbh.
