Well played Cookie and thanks for everything. One of England's greatest ever batsmen leaves test cricket. Thanks for everything.
England declare on 423/8 settling India an unlikely 464 to win...... Well done to the batsmen at last as they added 300+ in 2 and a bit sessions, now over to Jimmy & Co.....
India 167/5 at lunch and Rahul has 108 of those...... Jimmy still waiting for the elusive record breaking wicket.....
from being 2/3 India are now 298/5 at tea, game in balance only needing another 166 to win, Rahul now 142 no and Pant 101 no..........
What the hell do these two think they're up to? They've clearly not read the script and are trying to beat us.
81.1 overs wicket WICKET Rahul b Rashid 149 (Ind 325-6) Adil Rashid has just done his very best Shane Warne impression. Test cricket is the greatest.
Didn't I read somewhere that Mick Jagger is donating £20000 for every century scored in this test to a charity? Great gesture, his wallet will be taking bit of a hammering tonight.......
And for any 5 for. Plus £10,000 for any 50 or 3 for. So far that's £60k from England's 1st innings and another £60k from England's second innings. Add to that £20k from India's 1st innings and to date £40k from their 2nd innings and old wrinkly might have to go on tour again...
8 down now but India have made a really good fight of this. Good to see a Test get to the final session of the final day, with a few centuries scored along the way.
It's had the proper ebb and flow of an excellent Test Match. England's dominant 3rd day was the decisive factor although at one stage before Tea India had hinted they might pull it off, Rashid's 'fizzer' ended that dream but both sides have been excellent in what was a 'dead rubber'. Fair to say that Cookie was the difference...
