I can not believe Altior is as low as 2/5 for the ‘Arkle’. He won’t even run in the race if Douvan is absent from the ‘Champion Chase’ line-up – and the way his stablemates are dropping by the wayside and the fragility of the breed that ain’t beyond the realms of possibility, pilgrims.

Incidentally, Altior’s next run, all being well, will be outside of novice company. In the race named after Sir Brucie at Newbury on Saturday – the ‘Good Game, Good Game, Spirit Chase’.

Yep, do agree it’s certainly an anomaly. I’m yet to totally decide if 157 is right re West Approach or alternatively if he was just enormously flattered by his proximity to Uknowhatimeanharry last time. I think those bookie chappies are in the latter party as there would be no way they would be quoting 7/1 for him in the ‘Albert Bartlett’ if they thought that mark was justified.

I say, you types, the big question of the day has to be is the ante-post chap from ‘The Weekender’ one of my regular readers?!? ‘Hello, old boy. Bit chilly today. What, what???’, if you are.

In today’s paper he advises 2 pts each-way Champers On Ice (NRNB) at 12/1 in the ‘Ulitima Handicap Chase’ and 2 pts each-way Champers On Ice (NRNB) at 14/1 in the NH Chase.

As usual I’m some way ahead of the mass media.

1-2 in Betfair hurdle for Moon Racer victims, with the 3 miler winning <rofl>

Nice boost for Messire Des Obeaux as well, the Sidney Banks was the best novice hurdle run in England

Despite being beaten by the Henderson filly (whom he was giving a stone and a half) Western Ryder did his Champion Bumper prospects no harm at all in defeat. With Getabird out we'll have to see what comes over from Ireland but Greatrex has said Western Ryder goes to Cheltenham. I will be amazed if Henderson sends the filly so with double-figure prices still available Western Ryder looks the one for the bumper.

Tommy Rapper ran a close second to Willoughby Court, both of them 20L clear of some Hobbs hotpot who was 5th in the bumper last year, Willoughby Court went on to romp the G2 Leamington with Peregrene Run 10L 3rd who had previously beaten Wholsetone in a G2 at Cheltenham.

Tommy Rapper is a very decent horse, they decided to only run in good races for the rest of the season and if he doesnt win one they can stay in novices next season.

Gary Moores horse who was 12L 3rd had bolted up in a point and maiden on his only 2 starts and showed plenty for a long way, Bags Groove had look half decent as well. Messire Des Obeaux has clearly been one of he best novices in England this season, beating the 3 miler and winning the Challow from a decent Irish prospect.

The Sydney Banks is definitely up there with the best novice races ive seen in England this season depite its listed status, make of that what you will.

Yorkhill is on the drift in all races.

5.5 for the JLT, 9.9 Champion Hurdle. Any rumours?

YORKHILL tightening up nicely for the JLT now anyway, looks like he'll go there, assuming of course Willie manages to avoid knobbling another...

BELLSHILL surely won't go to Cheltenham now will he after yesterday? That RSA market is another guessers paradise, a Scorpion heading the market ffs <laugh>

If the ground was good dont see why Bellshill wouldnt run assuming hes over his fall.... he has a tendancy to throw in the odd shocker if things arent right.
