Force India must be fuming. With Red Bull unable to get both cars to the finish they had a chance to fight them with two strong results per race. As it is they've fallen too far back, they've lost so many points to stupid contacts now.
Those collisions were totally unnecessary. Ok, I understand Perez explanation of the first one...but the second one was totally ignorant. All he had to do was give Ocon a little more space....and the rookie had the run on him and was likely to take him there anyway...so why not survive the moment and mount an attack after? Perez will find it very difficult to get into bigger teams with that sort of driving for sure.
The thing that annoys me about Perez , is he is quick to point the finger at Ocon , (who has made mistakes , it's his first full year ).Remember what Perez was like when he first started out at McLaren ? lucky for him he has Carlos sim backing him imho .
Shots fired. Honda saying Alonso retired on purpose. https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/alonso-no-problem-honda-engine-spa-946201/
I have read or heard before that there were rumours he was prepared to do this kind of thing . If he retired it on purpose , poor imho . Yes it's incredibly frustrating for him , but what about the team and fans ?
I fully understand why he's done it, but he's paid 30 million to get the best result possible, not just throw toys out of pram and give up.
I take your point , but agree 100% he is paid millions , should act like a professional , no matter how hard it gets . Like I said , team members work their knackers off to try and help him .
If he has lost heart then he needs to quit. Same happened to Damon Hill in 1999. He retired his Jordan at least twice with 'brake issues' even though the team found nothing wrong with them after the race.
The thing is Alonso knew where he was going when he left ferrari and he knew mclaren was in the dumps...mind you, mclaren was my favourite team and Alonso is one of the drivers i like and it pains me to see both struggle so much. But as i said he knew where he was going and he know that team was struggling. He either has to fight to build back a good car or leave for another team. I would have loved to see him and Vettel in ferrari or Lewis with him in mercedes..
I just think he is totally fed up with the promises from mclaren....i dont.think they quite recovered from Martin Whitmarsh...lol
I think McLaren will be foolish if they do anything to keep Alonso next year , he is so temperamental , they could go to Renault , struggle next year , and then he buggers off . Renault have already admitted to reliability issues affecting all three teams , and that they HOPE to resolve the issues for next year . Interesting that illmor are helping Honda now . Stick or Twist . I think the deal with Renault is already done , but maybe they should have waited ?
My bet is Alonso to Renault and Honda come good next year! Just seems like recently Alonso goes to a team and they have poor years, he gets annoyed and throws toys out of pram, quits and team comes good.
He does seem to have an uncanny knack of cursing the team he moves to , since the first Renault drive ! And with that in mind , he can stay away from Williams !!!!!
There's no point in keeping Alonso. That 30m would be better spent helping the car. Give a cheap kid a chance, good training for if they ever improve.
Problem is IF Honda do come good they need an experienced driver to get consistent points. McL have to err on the cautious side, they can't just get cheap drivers in seats and hope things come together. They have to be ready when they do get decent PU to grab all the points they can. Sponsors are already very limited so then need to get in the front mix asap to stand a chance of surviving. It would be great to see McL build a new PU for the 2021 regs but that would be a huge financial risk, especially if you look at Honda!!!
