I thought they had taken people on . I think they have written this year off and are piling everything into next. Years car . It will hurt them ref the constructors championship , but short term pain for long term gain ? That's my hope anyway .

Just read that Alonso's loss of power yesterday on his final quali run was does to software. It appears that it was the first time he had taken Pouhon full throttle. This 'confused' the software into thinking he had not taken a corner (he didn't lift) and so it thought the car was a corner earlier (which would have been the downhill section) so it didn't supply any electrical power!

So it appears that Honda's way of the software knowing where the car is on the track is simply looking at the number of lift-offs and counting each one as a corner!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK so it must be a bit more sophisticated that that but come on, in this day and age is that the best they can come up with? Surely even gps at 10m accuracy would be better even just as a 'backup' or sanity check?

I wonder how other teams do it?

I'm beginning to fear for Mclarens long term future , I honestly am , and all the people they employ as well . Ron Dennis carries a lot of the blame IMHO , going right back when he refused a title sponsor as he didn't want to under value the team .

We all have degrees in hindsight , but still .....

Merc are so fast in S1 here and Lewis is on a mission, can't really see Seb being able to get into a battle today. Only strategy and clear track will give the Ferrari a chance.

Alonso's McHonda seemed OK on power in the initial laps, he had a good battle with Hulk but then after a few laps he just gets swamped. OK the Force India have massive top speed so he has no hope there but it's like the PU can't recover enough energy. So after the first few laps he is down to 80% or so?

I think Honda's ERS has been one of their bigger problems since day 1

shame Perez couldn't slow it down in time, that would've been the move of the race.
