I knew a Chinese fella who bet his restaurant and the flat above, where him, his Mrs and 3 kids lived, on a poker hand...

Our local Chinese.. kids (teenagers and wife and brother did the cooking.... he'd be in the pub next door on the poker machines or one door down in the bookies. Mate saw when he lost big he'd walk out but come back 5 minutes later... went out and followed him to Chinese.. .just opened the till and took money and went back down lol.

Only one guy like so I'll not make it a generalisation lol

It is not that rare. My thriving and well established Chinese restaurant recently came under new management. When I asked for the reason, I was told that the owner had gambled it and lost. We are talking several hundred thousands of pounds. Presumably gambling at poker. None of these tournaments business where your losses can be limited.

 

Aye, sounds like the same scenario. I can’t imagine how be broke the news to his Mrs

 

Interestingly enough his wife will have known about his gambling habit and such an event although unwelcome would not have come as major surprise to her. Sometimes it runs in the family and happens quite regularly in the chinese community. If you want to be taken as a serious player, you have to be prepared to gamble everything you own and start from scratch again if you lose.

 

Tonights match: Brighton v Mancs

Do people think a Brighton Win would have an effect on our last match? A Brighton win means they are safe and the last match won’t be crucial for them.

 

I went out with a girl who was half Chinese when I was about 18. Went around to her house one day and they were moving out. I said to her " I didn't know you were moving" She replied " Neither did we till my Dad had a bet"

They just moved into another house he owned, but it was not as nice as the one he lost.

For me a win yes they are safe.... one point i think they will be safe as hudderfield are the ones IMO in trouble if southampton pile it on.


It'd be nice if hudderfield dicked the chavs mid week and all.

However.

yeah it seems a real shark tank I've seen lots of low level **** where they just bet like mad. I don't quite get why that culture allows it but hey... they do and its their choice. Its a pity they'd not sort out untouchable finances for house and so forth so they didn't put the kids on street but there you go.
