Got to agree with Mayor Anderson on this, due to cuts in government funding Merseyside Police have lost a 1000 officers(and admin staff)in the last few years, but to have our game on the evening of Grand National day is potentially dangerous for many reasons, there has to be a large police presence at Aintree and has been since the IRA threat years ago but with the modern day threat the policing is paramount to safety and security at the course.
Even though is Bournemouth (a low police priority game)there will have to be the usual traffic police, mounted police, transport police and local police on duty in and around the ground, town is crazy on Grand National weekend, all the hotels and b+b's sold out, pubs and clubs packed out etc, but our home games also attract a lot of people from Ireland and Scandinavia etc and they stay in hotels in town and enjoy the craic and make a good weekend of it, so there needs to be an extra police presence in the city centre also.
The transport system(underground, local overground trains, buses etc) can usually prioritise the Grand National but if we're at home the same day there will be problems, we won't be expected to play on the Sunday because it's the Hillsborough anniversary so why can't the game be moved to Friday night?
The Premier League have given BT/Sky to much power in choosing dates and times of matches, but they've paid handsomely for the privilege.

Liverpool playing at home just after Grand National is 'madness', says mayor

Pitches in the Prem will be playable, but apparently human beings can't walk on snow anymore. Bloody Darwin and his evolution:headbang:

Ours could be in doubt, yellow warning of snow and winds for both Friday and Saturday, as GK pointed out the undersoil heating will keep the pitch playable but it's the pavements and roads around the ground that will cause any postponement.

Who wants to hear about Wales? :bandit:

Seriously, if he's talking to a global audience they're probably more aware of/interested in the stuff he did talk about than the national team.
I agree he shouldn't be in the job because I expect him to make a complete balls of it.
