    re michael owen.

he was top scorer for LFC for 7 seasons from 1997/1998 to 2003/2004. only 2 of those years he wasn't over 20 goals for season. 1999/2000 and the final year where he got 19. both were bad bad years for lfc.

like... what more do you want

fowler was top scorer for 3 season only but what a 3 seasons. 30 goals in each.

If you compare the two players:

A young fowler was quick, but he was utterly lethal and a superb shot. BUT around the pitch he was pretty limited player

Owen was lightening but not as good a finisher. he got a lot of goals from one on ones. TBh he wasn't all that out away from goal. his concept of ball control was kick it 5 yards away from his opponent and get there faster than them.

For me owen was top scorer for us under houllier where we won 4 trophies. Fowler got more love IMO but owen lasted longer Interestingly folwer score more goals total for lfc than owen.

Fowler will always get more love than Owen and rightly so. He was the local lad that came good and was shoved out the club compared to Owen who always saw England as more important and pissed off to Madrid for peanuts then went to United.

Both were brilliant natural finishers though

Yeah, just seen this. Really sad news, that WBA side of the late 70's/early 80's was memorable. Not only for the 'three degrees' of Cunningham,
Batson and Regis but those 3 were a massive part of that side back then. Regis was a powerful and explosive forward, RIP Cyrille <rose>

Weird one that is. Almost has a view of getting them or the championship rather than keeping them in the Prem.

thats true but even at the time.

Fowler was the really local lad and a bit of a lad and scored at a high rate

Owen was the guy everyone was talking about watching come up but he was also the guy form chester and off down in the england academy etc.

I can clearly remember the day owen had a contract announced (i think the last before he left actually) over the tannoy at anfield and the huge cheer. The thing was fowler was only a few years before but there wasn't such bull.

Clearly owen left us up **** creek while folwer got the push so you are right they are perceived differently now.

Mcmanaman has tried to weasle his way back in <laugh> but for me he hurt just as much if not more than owen. I thought rogers brought in into the academy but he's another who'd rather piss around on tv than go do the badges properly. I think he's been let wear a legends shirt.

He absolutely screwed us. At least rafa knew what owen was at and sold him to real for that 8mil. The funniest thing was capello never wanted him!

I thought there were nuts to be asking for o'neill off ireland. If they wanted pulis back they should just ge tpulis FFS.

Stoke have left it very late and all the usual suspects are gone. They've really gone for the bottom of the pile there.

I'd put them second favorites for the drop now (after swansea)

Rhodri's brother got the Wales job,

"FAW chief executive Jonathan Ford said: "With his vast amount of experience having played, coached and managed the biggest club in the world, we are confident of a successful future for our national team."

When the **** did he manage Real Madrid?

Seriously though, they've equated his playing days into his suitability for the job, great players don't always make great managers, in fact the vast majority don't.
He'll struggle to equal or better Coleman's record for Wales, and Coleman was at best an average player.:emoticon-0105-wink:

His top credential - by a long way - is that he's Welsh. It's FAW's priority - let's see how that works out.

Anyone see the ref in the PSG match. Accidental collision with PSG player, falls over, lays the boot into the player as he runs off then gives him a yellow card (2nd) and sends him off!

We thought we had **** refs lol
