Yep, because their away form is poor.

I was pointing out that those games will be a chance for rivals to extend the gap further.

Do you think they can get top4? They are the outsiders now for most people i'd suspect.

Fair point but yes, I do think they are "at present" very strong contenders for top 4.
They have had poor away form so far but that doesn't mean it will continue, how many times have we seen a team collapse/put on a spurt in the second half of a season.
Lots to play for at the top end yet <ok>

Liverpool FC to freeze ticket prices for 2018-19

Liverpool Football Club today announced that all ticket prices for the 2018-19 season will be frozen.

The decision, which applies to all season tickets and general admission tickets, means that prices will have been frozen for three successive seasons.

Further details regarding season ticket renewals will follow in due course.

given inflation has been a little higher than recently this is ok. we've seen inflation at 0% 0.7% and this 2017 at about 3% so really theres very little around to raise the prices over until last year.

its a nice gesture going out that far with brexit inflation but the prior 2 years freeze no biggie.

imo your inflation theory is irrelevant as far as the club is concerned since their driver would be inflation in the football sector.
more relevant is that other income streams are of growing importance & the engendering of goodwill (for relevantly small amounts in the overall scheme of things) in the "customer base".

    well.....

is that not two different conversations?

on the one hand operating costs and fan affordability are not tied to footballers wage demands and transfers. They are surely tied to the economy at large. So if the operating costs have not gone up you don't need to raise prices to keep the same level of "profit"

On the other hand you are saying raise the prices to cover the spiralling costs of players.

For me at least the point I am trying to make is aligned in general with the last part of what you said. "Engendering of goodwill" but its easy to do as the operating costs in terms of food prices, staff wages, clean up and insurance have largely stood still in prior years enabling the club to do it. a 3% overall inflation last year will have been absorbed by the club. Its not really that big a deal. the bet they are making is that they can raise prices the year after if the uk inflation rate stays at 3% again this year due to currency.

You point on other revenue streams growing is well made showing where the costs of spiralling players is coming from. If they stuck £5 on 54k tickets x 25 games they can take in 6.75million... its not tipping any scales.

well in your original post re inflation
the emphasis appears to be that since CPI has been approx 0, 0 , 3% the ticket prices should to a large extent mirror this. I just pointed out that the standard measures of inflation are not particularly relevant to PL clubs.
I also think most clubs won't be raising standard prices in next couple of years at least purely as fans in grounds are a necessary ingredient in the PL "brand" we sell worldwide.

Wenger has begun following through on his threat to headbutt every member of the FA by performing a spectacular flying headbutt on FA Chairperson Greg Clarke as he was leaving a London restaurant today
