When Everton were doing well in the EL, every one of us Liverpool fans on here [well the ones who bothered posting] wished them well. That would never happen the other way round ... ever.

Ironically had Koeman not been the manager they just sacked, he'd be the name they'd be looking to now and who most would think could sort them out. Funny old game isn't it.

We've got no reason to "hate" them, they're just the family that used to reside at our home and couldn't afford the rent money before we moved in and bought the place.:bandit:

Yes they probably would be trying it on.

I think there is a case for saying well.... it's your own fault you know... you can't go hammering other clubs by stealing their managers mid season.

I think clubs should only be allowed hire from unemployed coaches mid season.

There is an argument for, you should move jobs anytime you want manager wise at least.

Whilst I disagree for players, that has always been the rule, and players know this ie transfer window.

But any other job you can move when you want to, if you give the required notice.

I can see a case for that. Won't happen though will it?

I think a lot of us could see Koeman was only leaving for the money. For Everton fans to say now that his heart was never in Everton, is like <doh>

Isn't that you wanting to move not the club wanting rid of you?

Or what about signing a contract for 5 years or 3 years etc? In theory say if klopp wants to go manage real Madrid once zidane is sacked we could in theory block him rather than take compensation.

    It's all messy, no?

It's kind of funny a club can sack a manager 5 times a season and take other clubs managers but players cannot move outside a certain period... it's just a quirk to my mind in the rules.

With managers lasting 15-18months I just wonder if Everton were stuck with unsworth as promotion from within for exanple would clubs back their managers more.

Yeah it is. His record was very mixed at Southampton based on Southampton set up at board level and a couple of good signings he knew about.

His second and third transfer windows got worse and worse.

However imo Steve Walsh and him clashed badly and Walsh signed several guys Koeman didn't want and blew the lukaku money on a few guys go are nowhere close to evertons team

Isn't that you agreeing with me?

It's wrong managers can do that, but always been rule for players.

In any job you can move when you want, just football have their own rule, for players at least, not managers.

Koeman cannot be blamed for all the problems of Everton, the players should share the blame also. I wonder if he lost their respect?.

    i dunno maybe?

if you sign a contract you have to live up to the contract though... so i believe everton will have to pay palace 2 mil for allardyce cos he had a contract and when he walked away its terms had to be settled

They knew Lukaku was going well in advance, it was criminal not to have a replacement lined up. We've been there and done that but in fairness we didn't have the notice period Everton had with Lukaku. [Defence neglect aside].

Walsh was hailed as a brilliant talent spotter. I expressed my doubts about him when they got him too - 2 one season wonders and Kante does not a brilliant scout make. Even so, blue spirits were high at the start of the season full in the knowledge of who they had and hadn't bought. It was a bit like the Emperors new clothes .....

Very true. I haven't seen them play at all this season, did the players look to have downed tools? 2 games under Unsworth seen more passion or drive?

realistically we all knew 2 clubs were sniffing round lukaku yes. I thought they were signing in advance of him going which was good business. For example keane (though he's had a mare)

The fact is we don't really know which way it went form the outside. did they only have 2 targets or no-one... why did they take rooney? did walsh stick this on koeman or what happened.... the fact is koeman paid the price and his rep is now in toilet.

We certainly have been there and done it too. Why LFC still have mike gordon and edwards in key roles having stiffed rogers with balotelli when he wanted sanchez... and WHY rogers accepted balotelli... well I do not know.

We've done it both ways - not replaced key players and panic bought. Both ways disastrous. Klopp seems to have number one picks and no back ups. We are patiently waiting for Keita. Patience is a virtue but in football it can wreck the season. So far we're just about managing.

Rooney dropped him for himself. Unsworth is his puppet.
