Donald Trump tells Colin Kaepernick to leave the US over NFL national anthem protest

I am sure that America was once known by the sobriquet “Land of the Free”. So it must be okay to believe or disbelieve. It must be okay to speak your mind, whether others agree or disagree. It must be okay to support or protest a viewpoint in a non-violent way.

So San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is one of many Americans unhappy about the perceived bias of the authorities against African Americans; and he has chosen to demonstrate his stance by refusing to stand when the National Anthem is played before NFL games.

You might think that candidates for the Presidency would have the sense to stay aware from such a charged issue.

Not Donald J Trump. I am not quite sure how he manages to get away with telling an American citizen to leave the country. Anybody would think that he had burned the flag – something that would never be countenanced. Well, almost never. So much for putting the ‘Great’ back in the ‘United States of America’...

As others have pointed out, the last time someone started campaigning for mass deportations and they put up a great big wall it didn't exactly end well...

Ron, also check 'Why We Build The Wall" by Hadestown (Discuss Anything thread).

Oh heck, I'll stick it on here too, doesn't take-up too much room :emoticon-0100-smile:

Lads; I quote from the review of Hadestown on Amazon:

"Based upon the ancient Greek myth of the poet Orpheus and his quest to rescue his wife Eurydice from the underworld, Hadestown evokes an American depression era past, the global trouble leading up to 2010 (thought it was written before the stock market collapse), and a post apocalyptic future"

Any clues into which 'Wall' remains beyond this poster!

It isn't about a fence per se, it's a just another way of stopping the real world from rocking our lovely boat.

Anais Mitchell states. "The enemy is poverty and the wall keeps out the enemy
, that’s why we build the wall, we build the wall to keep us free."

She also wrote. "To me the essence of “Why We Build the Wall” is, it’s meant to provoke the question. Take global warming to its terrifying logical conclusion and imagine part of the world becomes uninhabitable and there are masses of hungry poor people looking for higher ground. Then imagine you are lucky enough to live in relative wealth and security, though maybe you’ve sacrificed some freedoms to live that way. When the hordes are at the door, who among us would not be behind a big fence? These conditions exist already, but most of us don’t have to acknowledge them in a real way..."

First round to Clinton. Trump unprepared, naive, and very non-presidential. Made a particular ass of himself on the 'Clinton stamina' comment. Trump sounds more like a fairground barker to me?

Had to laugh when he moaned afterwards about his microphone not working properly. I heard him alright.

I find it hard to believe that out of the whole of the US, the next president will be one of those 2 <yikes>

Agree, Ron, but I think Clinton will try to prevent conflicts. Trump obviously does not care one way or the other? A fairly typical right-wing non-combatant 'Rambo'?

It's ok Ron coz if Jeremy Corbyn ever gets in power he'll just have them all disarm and hug it out!

Not sure that The Donald knows where either of the other two lives. I think his current missus has to point out where she comes from on the map.

Kim is no real threat to anyone outside North Korea as most of his rockets do not seem to go very far; and his nukes are not really nukes.

If you put the three of them in a ring together, there is no doubt that Vladimir is in the best condition and would soon make mincemeat of the other two – even though Kim is half his age!

Now, be honest QMII, could you point out where Slovenia is on an unmarked map? Never put you down as having an interest in Geography too.
