Apparently he had inherited a terrible squad - one that finished lowly 11th in the league. When you have players like Barkley, Rom and Stones what can he be expected to do.......clear the decks and get some top talent in. But to have an easy path to two finals and keep a 100% record is hard, even for a man of Klopps talents
Jose Mourinho: Man Utd manager says Premier League does not care 3 hours ago From the sectionFootball 129 Sharethis page please log in to view this image Mourinho's United side drew 0-0 at Southampton in their penultimate game of the league season on Wednesday Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says it is "frustrating" that the Premier League "doesn't care" about helping English sides in Europe. United host Crystal Palace in their last league game on Sunday, three days before the Europa League final. Victory over Ajax in Stockholm on Wednesday would earn Mourinho's side a Champions League place next season. "In any country in the world the match is on Saturday. We are sixth no matter what and Palace are safe," he said. "In seven years in England I never saw any detail of trying to care about English teams in Europe." Man Utd wait on Fellaini injury Romero saves penalty as Saints & Man Utd ends goalless The Portuguese appeared to suggest he had not asked the Premier League to switch the match from Sunday - the final day of the season - describing the prospect as "a lost battle". "It's frustrating for me. I don't lose time. When I know the battle is lost I don't fight," he said. Since the start of the Premier League, the final round of fixtures has been played at the same time on the same day, with the league keen to protect the competitive integrity of the season. It is understood the Premier League is also generally reluctant to alter kick-off times at short notice to avoid disruption for fans. 'I hope Big Sam goes soft on us' Palace secured their top-flight safety with victory over Hull on Sunday, as a 4-0 win at Selhurst Park lifted Sam Allardyce's side to 13th. Mourinho said he will field several youngsters for Sunday's match at Old Trafford, adding: "I hope you don't kill me when you see my team. "I hope the fans on Sunday support the team, they forgive some naivety, they forgive some lack of confidence and I hope Big Sam shows he's a good friend and he goes slow. "I hope he tells Wilfried Zaha to go slow and leaves Christian Benteke at home. I hope he goes soft on us." Mourinho praises Romero's 'great save' 'I'll play my fittest team' Palace boss Allardyce said he would be fielding "the fittest team we've got". "Whether Jose plays a weakened side or not it'll be a difficult task. We've no Andros Townsend, but my team want to play at Old Trafford," he said. Asked if he would have done the same as Mourinho in his position, Allardyce added: "There's no doubt about that. It'd be wrong to risk anyone for the final. "We moan about English teams not getting near the Champions League, but there's no help from the Premier League to give him the best chance. "That wouldn't have happened abroad." What a whining twat
paranoid Mourinho is #worried his EL tactics have been leaked Outspend opponents by hundreds of millions of pounds Blind/Rojo early reducer Fellaini throwing elbows Pogba and Carrick passing sideways 10 men behind the ball #josegate
For me and many pool fans the order is PL> CL> EL>FA> LC>CS We have to prioritise PL surely over CL. To say the FA cup is more important than the EL that will provide a place straight into CL without even a play off is clearly nonsense.
IMO the EL shouldn't be judged on the CL place If you're going to finish 3rd would you prefer the FA Cup or the EL? Of course you prioritise PL because it's the week to week competition but a PL team wins the PL every single year but the CL rarely
For us this is clearly nonsense. In our situation we (and many other clubs) value the league title over the CL. As this is the bread and butter stuff. Winning the CL may be a rare event but for us surely it is a priority. For a club in 3rd place the fa cup is > the EL ? The EL is much more difficult to win than the FA cup and has more prestige in football. The fa cup has history going for it but the EL is now much bigger. I think you are arguing just for the sake of arguing
Winning the EL means you have failed at something else, either the league the previous season or the CL group stage EL is for midtable teams or teams in transition, and even most of them have #legit discussions about snubbing it or throwing games to avoid it FFS Now that you win a CL place is a distraction and only proves how good the CL is, not how good the EL is It's like saying the Championship is amazing because you can win promotion to the PL. No, it's for teams who #fail in the PL. The FA Cup is the second best domestic competition and probably the best domestic cup in the world
The Cups are only worth what they give the winners I.e the prizes The PL: the title of the best team in England and that is what all clubs aim for (or are supposed to) at the start of the season AND entry into the CL. The CL: the title of the best Team in Europe AND automatic entry in next season's CL The EL: the automatic entry into the CL next season or playoff AND the winners of the 2nd best trophy in Europe The FA: title of winners of "the second best domestic competition and probably the best domestic cup in the world " The CL: winners of the third best domestic competition. whether we like it or not, the EL is now more important than it was before because of the prize it brings. In the past clubs would consider the EL as distraction but not anymore. We clearly prioritised it last season and we would dearly have loved to win it.
The 2nd best trophy in Europe is the Super Cup The EL is the only cup in history that tells its winners to play in a better cup than defend your meaningless pot
Mourinho whinges the entire PL structure wasn't reorganised to help him, not that he even bothered to ask he just expected it https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ho-manchester-united-last-premier-league-game “We are sixth, Crystal Palace are safe, it doesn’t matter,” Mourinho said. “I think after the moment Crystal Palace beat Hull City [last Sunday] and Hull City is relegated and Swansea is safe – in that moment, our match has to be Saturday. In any country in the world, it would be Saturday. Have I asked the FA? I don’t lose time. When I know the battle is lost, I don’t fight the battle."
I had great difficulties last night. Under almost any set of circumstances, I want to see your lot pasted good and hard. Somehow, I couldn't feel that way last night, Congratulations and RIP the 22
