Tbf the FA cup was the least priority for the Mancs. They really did not need 2 more gruelling matches to win a trophy which do not provide them with anything extra. Like the Europa or the Wenger trophy. They did win the FA last year. In that sense Mourinho wouldn't lose any sleep for being out of the competition. On the other hand we could and should have been in the last four if we had taken it more seriously.

Forhim, it was a matter of pride it seems. He did not want to be humiliated like last time. If he won, fantastic but losing with some pride looked like his objective. Rostov was more trying to preserve his players. It remains to be seen whether he'll be able to beat them this week.
