If CL winners have already qualified for the GROUP STAGE by league position (Top 3 in spain, ger and eng, top2 in italy and france and portugal, champions everywhere else down to 12th ranked country) then the EL winners are in the Group stage too.

Also if the EL Winners themselves qualify by league position they go into the group stage.

Otherwise, its the play off round.

Its not Arsenal fault TBF. They don't challenge but they always make the KO stage, something Utd and Pool didn't do last time they were in.

City have improved gradually as mentioned.

The only English team making a big impact since the naughties was Chelsea and they have slipped now.

As the rankings stand today:

Chelsea 10th
Arse 11th
City 12th
Utd 19th
Spuds 20th
Pool 34th

Only utd can move up for the rest of the season but not by much.

 

But that just shows how silly the rankings are.

Utd 3 times, not good enough for 4

Us 5 times

Chelsea 1 time and city and arsenal none.

Yet above us and utd who have dominated domestic and European games.

Nah. There based on the last 5 years in the CL and EL which is fair.

If a team don't qualify or do poorly then their ranking will suffer. Take last year EL run out and pool are 50odd.

If we want a better ranking, qualify and then do well. Easy (We hope)

 

Not really silly. You haven't been in europe so it makes sense. Hell Ajax and Benfica and even celtic have won it more than most, we wouldn't expect them to just waltz in with a super high seed.

Its based on performance over the recent years and it should stay that way (minus the winners of each league but thats fair enough). I think they should reduce the weights in the europa league wins though (this is assuming its not weighted against it already, i dont know)

 

So spurs and arsenfail who have done nothing in europe just because they qualify get more points than us and utd who have dominated Europe.

No wonder the system is ****ed lol.

Well they only want the strongest teams at the top. If you haven't been qualifying then you have been weak .

It's only for seeding and its earned by performing.

It doesn't change a club's historical achievements but neither should those acheivments from decades ago affect a teams current ranking like Bobby said.

Milan are in the same boat and they are 2nd most successful team in history.

Uefa have done what you want by rewarding historical success when it comes to sharing the money out. I posted about it a few pages back.

 

Because it would be akin to John Mcenroe coming back for a last hurrah into Wimbledon and getting 3rd seed over Andy Murray cause he's won it more. Your team is weaker than all the ones seeded above you (okay maybe not united, see league table and finishes as a source) so actually looks it works quite well .

Ok fair enough.

But we cant then moan that the only teams in europe that have won anything don't get points when we make it easier for ****e to qualify and us as a country lose points for teams who only make up the numbers.

4 teams that everyone around the world uk wise watch yet we have to put up with a bullshit excuse of sharing round fairly of tv money.

Yes makes it fairer but also less attractive.

Why do other countries not do this
