So what happened to extended bans for silly appeals? Aguero still only gets 3?

He didn't appeal, you can only do that once a decision has been made.
All he did was put in a defence against the charge, if he then appeals against the decision and loses he would get an extra game if the appeal was deemed frivolous (groundless).

But the FA very rarely overturn a decision so clubs / players are better off just accepting it

Yep, that is why so few appeal. Most put a defence in though in the hope of getting off with it, a bit silly really with all the cameras and slow mo to condemn them.

Some are genuine bad decisions though but the FA insist on backing their referees no matter what #respectcampaign

Yep, but in this case it was a media court, the ref claimed he didn't see it. Had the ref said he had seen it and decided no action was needed they would have backed his decision.

Which is equally as ****ing stupid as blindly backing a decision the referee wrongly made <laugh>

Interesting comments by Mark Halsey, claiming that he was told after games by people at the PGMOL to say he hadn't seen incidents that he had actually seen.

One one hand its a positive that an elbow like Aguero's gets punished but on the other hand its seems as if the PGMOL are picking and choosing who they want to punish if they are telling the ref to say he hadn't seen certain incidents.

Where does everyone stand on this? Should the PGMOL be punished if Halsey's claims are verified by several other referees or should they simply scrap the rule of you can't retrospectively punish someone if the referee has seen something on the pitch, because you get a better picture of the incident with video replays and can analyse it better.

Should be scrapped anyway. If a ref has seen it and everyone can see they got the decision wrong, then the ref should be educated and told that is the wrong decision. Why try cover things up, just be honest. If you make a mistake in your job, most normal people get training or advise etc

Just seen stat on anichebe who has now signed for Sunderland.

55 games and 6 goals for WBA
131 games and 17 goals for Everton

Total 186 games and 23 goals. 1 goal every 8 games.

How has he got another Prem club? Guy needs to move to the Championship and try score some goals

Rule only applies for the benefit of a certain club anyway :bandit:

Other way round be swept under the carpet as usual.

Scrap this "the ref saw / didn't see it" ruling. People make mistakes.

However, this might encourage referees not to act knowing the punishment will come later (no more than now I guess)

He's ****e at scoring but he's not really in the team to score goals. I know it sounds odd for a striker but he's just really there to occupy defenders and create space for other attacking players.

    Bit like heskey.

Just be a nuisance and give space for your better players to capitalise hopefully.

Although heskey was better than he was given credit.
